Default Would this woofer work in our cars?

I need to replace both of my subs in the sail panels. I came acroos this speaker for a decent price. I know it isn't a dual voice coil speaker, but would it work just as well? Could I just 'plug-n-play'?

It wouldn't work unless you built a box for it. It wasn't designed for IB(free air) set-ups.

You need a dual voice coil speaker because the stock speaker is dual voice coil and each coil has separate amplification. So if you put a single voice coil speaker in there it will only get half the power and you can not twist the positives and negatives together. Image Dynamics makes a good dual voice coil IDQ-6 and so does SAS Bazooka.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll check into those 2 speakers. SAS factory is located ~1 mile from me so I'll give them a shout.

Tim, if you are going to replace the factory speakers and you have a monsoon then you have to go back with factory speakers. The speed volume adjustment gives the factory speakers variable watts depending on speed. If you replace with aftermarket then they will sound like crap.
In other words with a factory system your stuck. I replaced my head unit and added new speakers throughout.

If you replaced the speakers get the 6 1/2 for the rear panels and 6 3/4 for the fronts.

I have changed alot of them out with the SAS Bazooka speakers or the Image Dynamics and have had nothing but a bunch of satisfied customers.

The Monsoons DO NOT have speed sensing volume.
Shady93z, do you happen to have any model #'s for these speakers? Thanks

Are you guys referring to speed controlled volume (SCV)? My monsoon system has it. It sucks and I keep it off, but it has it.

Tim, if you just want good and real good speakers to go with the stock or mosson system go here to speakers and put in the year and model of your car and they will tell you what will and will NOT work with your system.... then you can go to ebay and find them cheap or buy them from this site,

hope this helps ya out some.
