Default Sshevy Custom Tweeter Pods (pix)

Hey guys, I'm new here, so I don't know if you guys have seen these. Kevin (SShevy) over at LS1.COM makes these in his free time. These pix are from my car and I really love them. They bring up my front stage, and improve stereo separation dramatically over the stock tweeter locations on the Trans Ams.

For the rest of my audio pix and a complete walk through on how to remove the stock Monsoon website and install a complete system, check out my walkthrough at my Death to a Monsoon website:

You would be best off to email him and ask directly. His email is:

i'd say probably next to impossible unless u were gonna run an amp for them....the front door speakers are 2ohm and u won't find a 2ohm tweeter

maybe someone who knows a lil bit more about the monsuck can help

The tweeters in the stock monsoon systen are actually run off the head unit. The amplifier runs the midranges and the subs on the sail panels. The wires that run the tweeters for the front doors and rear hatch panels also serve as the amplifier inputs. It is a complicated setup and took me a few hours to figure out. You can run another set of tweeters directly off the existing tweeter wires and shouldn't be harmful to your headunit. The monsoon systems use the same head unit as the original non-amplified versions.

OK...this question is from a total newbie <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" /> to stereo equipment and automotive wiring, so bear w/ me.

These custom pods looks sweet, and leads me to something I have been wondering about. I actually like the Monsoon system (I know alot of folks do not) overall, but have ofter wished it had a little bit more high-pitch or treble. I dont have any desire to replace the Monsoon or any of the components, but wondered if you could ADD a set of tweeters (using these custom pods) and how much wiring would be required to do so? If I did such a thing, would there be a noticible increase in the high-frequency sound?

Sorry if these are stupid questions!

The easiest way to do it would be to get an aftermarket amp. You wouldnt need a very powerful amp at all, since you wont be driving any bass.

You would need the PAC line-level convertor to hook up to your wiring of the Monsoon, so you would have RCA plugs connected to the amp, and then run new wires to the new tweeters and just make sure the amp you use has a HPF (High Pass Filter). Not every amp has this feature, so make sure whatever amp you buy can do it.

If youre a newbie with electronics, you would probably want to have someone install it for you, but its not something that should be that hard to do.
