Sound Deadener Installed ( pics and impressions )
I installed the Frost King duct insulation in my car today. I ended up using 5 rolls. Took me about an hour to get the entire interior out, 2 hours to lay the insulation and about an hour putting the interior back in. I preped the floorpan by vaccuming it and then wiping it with an amonia free cleaner. Pulled up all the wiring I could then started laying it from the front to back, including the sides and the fender wells. The insulation sticks and conforms easily to the metal. The interior NOISE is significantly reduced. I have dumps before the axle so you can imagine how loud it is inside. On a scale of 1-10 the noise before was a 10 now I would say it is 5 or 6. The gear whine is quiter and you can't hear the rocks hitting the fenderwells as much. MUCH more enjoyable to drive now. Wish I would of done this a long time ago.

I spent about $75 total. You can get the insullation at Lowes, its near the water heaters. Thanks Levi for recommending this. I guess my A/C and heater should be more efficent also now.
Peace,
Justin

Looks like a pretty quality job you've got yourself there Is the material real thick, I'm just trying to figure out how heavy it is? 75 bucks seems like a good deal for five rolls

Check out this picture
http://bellsouthpwp.net/j/s/jsears8/insulation/sd13.jpg
It is 1/8" thick. Each roll is ~3lbs so I only added about 15lbs. Not bad, I think it's worth it.

Could you get a decibal meter and measure before and after in a couple of different spots? I was going to do this but I was pressed for time.

you can also use the dynamt and other stuff like that. I would dampen the sound more, but it will be a lot heavier

Jsears,
Did you keep the stock sound deadening in your car or did you do away with it? Any tips or advice on taking the interior out or even harder putting it back in? How do I get the Emergency Handle out? THanks.

I think he must have done away with it because he says he vacuumed it and then cleaned it with some cleaner. And also "it conforms easily to the metal." So yeah i think he took it all out.

Re: Sound Deadener Installed ( pics and impressions )
THanks, I also need some advice about removing a couple of parts...
1. What do I use to take out the emergency brake handle?
2. Any easier way of removing the seatbelt bracket on the rear seat. THose screws with awkard heads are pretty tight?
3. There are 2 screws in the trunk above the t-yop storage. Those are really tight. Any easy way out?
4. The coat hangers. How do i get them out, they are the last piece holding that plastic panel in?

The stock sound deadener is still in there, its stuck to the back of the carpet or I am missing something here???
To lift the ebrake handle 90* you need to stick a flatblad scredriver inbetween the gear and pull up, then you can remove your console.
For the coat hangers stick a screwdriver in the bottom slot and pop the center out, then you remove the hanger.
For the setabelts you will need to buy a torx bit.

Re: Sound Deadener Installed ( pics and impressions )
I jsut did this today and it's an amazing difference. A lot more fun to drive. It's like driving my Avalon but a whole lot more grunt to it.
For the seatbelt and the child seat connectors in the back, use a torx bit. However, an electric drill might not have enough power to do it (mine didn't and it's pretty heavy duty). So manually do it using the proper ratchet tools and then use a drill to get it out.
You will also have loads of trouble getting the driver and passnger seat belt thingies out too.
So just manually do it, then use a drill to pull it out easier.

How about those db levels? Did you happen to get a chance to measure them before and after? I'd be really interested to see how much noise is rejected.

Re: Sound Deadener Installed ( pics and impressions )
Radio Shack was out of stock on the db levels. However, i will be picking one up sometime very soon so I can measure the levels inside my car then measure my friends car (same exact setup as mine). Then i will post them up for you guys.
Any specific places you want me to measure the levels?

Re: Sound Deadener Installed ( pics and impressions )
Thanks for the tip JSears, I did this a couple days ago (based on your thread), and it made a BIG difference.
