Default hardwiring radar detector

guys i need help, i got a radar detector and right now its just sitting on my dash pad hardwired with my cdplayer. i want to windsheild mount it on the drivers side right next to the rearview mirror, you guys know how i can hardwire into the rearview? i turned it as far as i can and i can see the three wires going to it but i cant figure out how to unplug it and i dont want to break it. i can tap into those but having them loose from the mirror would be 10x easier. also, they arent red/black/white, there white, blue, and some other color i dont remember. anybody know whats positive/neg without me having to test em?

Do not use the wires at the mirror unless you want to have to remember to turn off your detector every time you leave the car. The wires are for the courtesy/map lights and are hot at all times (battery feed). Run your own wires down the A pillar to the fuse panel.

Why would you put it in such a craptacular spot like up against the A-Pilar o_0 Dont want it to work right? lol The Fuse panel is right there, why dont you run the wire into it heh Quite easy IMO. Just run it to the radio slot.

its not going to matter much if the detector is on all the time. i have mine plugged into my accessory outlet because i haven't had the chance to hardwire it yet and that is always hot. i can leave it on for days with no problems.

It's not too difficult to remove the A pillar trim. If you don't have t-tops then you can just pull it off. If you have t-tops then you have to take off the t-top and remove the two screws at the top of the pillar trim before you can pull the trim off.

That's true but why would you want to if you don't have to? It only takes a few minutes extra to do it properly.

I wired to the mirror and on mine the hot wire I used,
is part of the "retained power" circuit and goes to
sleep after a while. So it's OK to sit for a week at
the airport etc. The downside is, door / lock activity
makes the detector go through it's boot-up boogie
every time with all the hooting and whistling, when
that circuit gets bounced.

Yup, without t-tops the trim is just held on with S clips - just pry it off.
