Default sail panel speaker.... finally!!!

I think iv'e found the answer to the sail panel replacement issue. After extensive searching i found a Bazooka bass tube Model # BT6024 that has a 6" DVC 4 ohm subwoofer which should be a direct fit for the factory sub. After contacting Bazooka i was directed to Main Street Audio.com which sells the replacement speaker for 39.99 (107.53 for two with shipping).
I haven't received or installed yet but it should be plug and play...literally, as this is exactly the speaker specs that came from the factory just better quality. Just wanted to let you all know!!!!! More after I install and listen.

I hope you meant 6.5" or 6.75" because the factory sub is 6.5S (6.5" oversize) so you would need an adapter to mount a 6" speaker.

I know that the total width of the speaker itself is 6.5", but the actual opening is a hair under 6". It may not line up with the factory holes, but who cares those clips fall out anyway, so my factorys are just screwed to the metal. Even if there is a slight fitment issue it still a lot closer than I have been able to find anywhere.

Okay, well let us know how it goes. As you said, this could be a good replacement for Firebird sail panel subs (especially with a 100 db efficiency rating if that's true). I'm just concerned about the mounting - aside from the size difference, I don't think those tube speakers even have the normal mounting lip around the outside edge. I'll be curious about how it goes when you receive them.

I can't invision that theese woofers have any less of a mounting edge I mean it has to screw to something. Have you found 8's that fit in the opening because there are quite a few DVC 4ohm in 8's. What did you do to make them fit because the 8's I saw were too deep.

8's have to be 3.5 deep or less, and you have to 1. make the mounting hole bigger, or 2. i'm sure you could fab up a wooden mount and screw it into the metal, before installing the speaker. i just cut into the metal, and made tabs, then bent them back a little. here's what i got.

I have those bazookas in my ta, they sound killer. you will need a spacer to mount them but other than that they fit fine. And they are 6.75". I would give Ian at kee audio a call he has been very helpful with everything ive needed, hell take care you.

I thought these fit without spacers? I read somewhere they aren't needed. I got mine from Kee but don't have them in yet. Kind of unsure about the wiring and didn't really know if I should sound deaden when I put them in.

Yup, they do fit without spacers. In another thread, Ian mentions that he originally included spacers because they measured deeper than stock but then heard from several customers that they actually fit fine without the spacers.

No < 8" subwoofer based on conventional technology will ever be 100dB 1W/1m efficient. Woofers can be really efficient but those ones won't hit nearly as low down. Bogus claims about a speaker make me not want to try it.

I didnt use any sound deadening, as I plan to do the whole car at once it does rattle a bit but sounds pretty good overall. The wiring is pretty just clip the stock wiring harness off the stockers and solder it on to the bazookas (Red - Big Tab, Black - Small Tab) and there you go.

I just ordered a set of bazookas from kee audio along with a dynamax speaker kit. I'll post and let you guys know what they sound like. It's a stock monsoon system otherwise.
