two 8"s in the sails or one 10" in stealth?
i want a decent system in my car, but nothing to drastic.. i dont listen to any rap, just pure american METAL (well not just american metal but yeah).. i still wanna have good bass for the double bass drums and for when i/passengers watch movies (hardley ever)
so should i do squeeze two 8"s in the sail panels or one big 10" in subthumps stealth enclosure?

I recommend one 10" sub in stealth enclosure. It is a very versatile setup. Squeezing 8" subs in the sails would be difficult. Cutting the sail panel inside with a dremel, making sure it is perfect, then making sure the clearance between the plastic panel and the opening aren't buzzing, etc. Not that it hasn't been done but I've seen people have issues just getting a quality pair of 6.5's in that location if the magnet is too deep. For good kick drum bass a 10" sub is perfect. I run two stealths but one is sufficient and you will like how it sounds. Follow that up with some nice components in the doors and you will have a nice sounding system. I listen to alot of metal as well!!

You want to go with the "stealth" enclosure in the hatch. (driver's or passenger side) Because having an enclosure in the hatch sounds so much better because of the inherent cabin gain of hatchback-style cars. Technically, (assuming the same power is used) a pair of 8"s will outperform a single 10" due to the piston area of both 8"s being greater than the single 10". But if the 10" is in the hatch well, and the 8"s are in the sail panels then the 10" will definately perform better due to the cabin gain of the hatch.

Here's the passenger side subthump stealth. You have to cutyour panel out in order to use it. I figured if I ever get rid of it I'll just get one from a junker.
Heres the drivers side:
That was my Vantage stealthbox. I now have a subthump to match the passenger side. I will be taking more photos of my system later as I have to install my new HU and my XM system. I think I'll get it in this weekend hopefully.

I vote for the 10. A ten in a properly sized enclosure, even with minimal power, sounds pretty good, and more importantly reproduces frequencies at the low end that most 8s (specifically most you could fit in the sails) cannot do well (especially in that location, with infinite baffle), or shouldn't be made to at all. I have a ten in the cubby hole, and it sounds really good for being an underpowered MTX.
Now what I would really say is put some reasonable 8s or really nice factory replacement size components in the sails, but put a 12 in the back in an enclosure. LPF all of them, but run the sails from 100-500hz or so (depending on the driver) and the 12 from 150 or so down. Give yourself a little overlap, but let each do what they specialize in. No 8 (and only a handful of 10's) will sound as good as a twelve down at 40 or 50, but the 12 will essentially miss everything from 150 up, depending on the enclosure and the driver itself.
Then you can HPF the rest of your speakers (which are either 6.5s or smaller components or coaxes) and save them the anguish of doing anything below 150hz.
Just my opinion.

One 10 will sound better than the two eight unless you have someone fiberglass you a box in the sail panel...
