For around the $200.00 range I would go with the new premier dehp490.I am a huge alpine fan,but the 490 has a lot to offer in the $200.00 range. Overall in your poll for the best radios I picked alpine. If money was no object it is very hard to beat an alpine F#1 set-up.

I never liked the look of Alpines, or their lasers. Alpines never did well with scratched discs, where as you can roll a CD through a mixture of dirt, rocks, nails, and broken bottles, pick it up, wipe it off, and my Pioneer will play it

I don't know what Alpine HU's or lasers you're talking about. Maybe the one you bought in Mexico spelled Elpine. People do sell High -end Alpine on ebay that's what i was referring to. Not the low -end **** at BB or CC.
P. S. High-end Alpine system debuts in Land Rover.

Pioneer Premier FTW, they have always been very reliable and durable for me. I havent seen any alpines that impress me enough to switch.

Somebody acts like he works for them or something

They sell some pretty high end Alpine head units at my local best buy. They also sell high end Pioneer as well.

What? What's wrong with Kenwood? I like their excelon line on most things. I have never had any problems with my HU that I bought new over 5 years ago. Then again...I'm not sure this model sold very well because most people don't recognize it.

There isn't anything wrong with them... Pioneer is just better.

Might want to ask Kage, as I don't know if he posted in this thread yet, but if I recall correctly he prefers Alpine.

Recomendations would be good, I'm looking to get a new headunit, then upgrade the midrange speakers and get an amp to power them. I also have a 12'' rockford fosgate sub. I'm mainly interested in sound quality just trying to decide between alpine and pioneer.
I also want something that i can turn up real loud for when the ttops are off with distorion and around or under $200.
thanks in advance!
What features are you looking for? Whats most important? Detach face/ Preouts/MP3 playback/Warranty/etc?

Im certainly biased, but of the above mentioned - Pioneer. Without the above mentioned Eclipse.

I'm mostly interested in sound quailty. but i would like preouts for a sub, and eventually im gonna uprgrade the midrange speakers and add an amp, so i want it to be compatible.
