Default Best SQ 10" sub under $200?

I started this question in another thread but I don't want to completely hijack that thread to answer my questions.

I want to see people's opinions on what would be the best 10" sub for SQ with a few restrictions. First, I want to stay under $200. I originally wanted to stay around $100, but my first choice (Alpine Type R) has received a lot of flack on these boards for SQ. Second, I need to be able to power it with 600W RMS (@2 ohms) or less. Finally it will be in a subthump box, so if it sounds great in a ported box but not in a sealed box, then it's not a good sub for me.

I'm not looking to rattle my neighbors windows, but I shouldn't have any question that it's there and working. I'd also prefer that the sound stays very clean at higher volumes.

Thanks for the help!

In the other thread, I asked about the TC1000, and dragonrage said it would not be a good choice and to look at the thread in his sig.

I looked that over and can't say I completely understand what it all means... But it looks like it's a straight comparison of volume at a couple of specific frequencies. Is there more to it than that?

If I go off those results, then the Alpine Type-R becomes the top choice again... But does that just make it the loudest?

I like the Memphis M-Class subs. They run around $125 or so.

Fi Q10 or Dayton RS, IMO

TC-1000 10" doesn't go low enough. Even sail panel subs can go as low as it does (without equalization anyway), though the TC-1000 would be able to go louder.

It looks like the Fi Q10 would be nice... but it's also 1000W RMS and $250. Is there some place that sells them for less? How's it going to sound with only 600W driving it?

TC Sounds has that TC-10 OEM (rated at 800W) that would be awesome from the looks of it, but people driving with only 600W have said it's just not enough power. I'd hate to run into the same problem on a speaker rated at 1000W.

That leaves the Dayton as a real contender, although I'm having a hard time finding opinions on its SQ.

It can take 1000WRMS but it doesn't need it... 1000WRMS is not even 3dB more than 600WRMS.

I'm not sure I'd call them the best, but they're good, yes. Their designs are a bit dated right now though.

My vote would go for the IDQ. A new one is coming out within a couple months, too. Even still, the ones on sale currently are awesome speakers. I think it is the perfect speaker for the stealth box.

Yeap, Elemental Designs are also great. I think they are made by Image Dynamics. Anyone know?

Again I will pimp out the elemental designs subs. Subthump sent me my t tops box with their 12's 13Ov2 in it and omg they hit hard.. very impressed with the clarity and precise hits. Sounds very good.. I can turn it up hard to crank out insane hip hop crap.. or mild it down so that it thumps hard as hell with my metal crap.

They move around to different OEMs because they can't get along with anyone for long. They went with TC Sounds for a little while, and had TC Sounds design and build a sub for them, and then stole the design and took it somewhere else. They were with Tang Band for a while, and claimed that TB copied one of their sub designs, so I don't think they're with TB anymore. I highly doubt ID builds their subs but even if so, they're definitely not equal to ID's own subs.

I currently run RE Audio SE 10's. They work well in a stealth enclosure and are VERY nice subs. Run about $170.00. Here's some pics:

Compared to JL Audio W3s:

Sad thing is they are about the same price new.

The Alpine Rs are good subs, personally i do not like the sound they produce...

The Subs listed below are $199.99 and lower, the RMS might not be 600 watts, but there MAX power is double 600 watts so they should handle great! They are in no order.

Infinity KAPPA PERFECT10DVQ
Diamond Audio D610D4
Memphis 15-M3104D
JL Audio 10W3V3-4
JBL P1022
