Lets see some aftermarket Headunits
^^^ Im at the point and time where im about to threw my ipod fm transmitter out the window. Idk if i will get a 2000+02 stock headunit or an aftermarket one. Ive never been a fan of the aftermarket look but it might be a cheaper route and with better sound. So what do you guys think i should do. Pics wood be great.
Thanks

I don't have pics but I'm leaning towards Kenwood's KDC-X791 (last years model) or the KDC-X792. Catch 22 is I want to be able to still have an in deck cd player as an option and also be able to play from USB(not using an ipod). Another option that I've heard/read people being happy with is pioneer's DEH-P4000 models since they supposedly play nicely with the Ipod. If I was going to pass on the CD player I'd have to take a look at the Alpine digital decks.
I temporarily hooked up a 6 year old Alpine that I consider to be an ok stereo in my 1993 T/A and the difference is sound quality and number of radio stations the deck can pull in is very noticable. Apperence wise the radio does stick out a bit more in the front due to the mounting kit but the difference in sound quality makes up for it in my eyes.
Sorry I don't have pics to reference but at least you can search and get info on some of those models to see if any catch your eye.
Take it easy

I attached a pic of my Apline HU (sorry not real clear, took pic with my phone) Mine doesn't stick out far at all, and I've always been a fan of Alpine. This HU came out of my previous Z28 and into the current vehicle. Still works great. Good luck choosing your setup.

Here's one I just did Monday. This is using a 1.5DIN sized unit from Innovatek that has a single DIN chassis. The face actually extends downward to accomodate a 5.3" screen. Features TFT touchscreen, built in bluetooth, DVD, TV tuner input, full speed iPod controls on the touch screen, usb input, aux input, and a ton of other cool things. I was brought this particular unit by the customer but do carry several of them including one (Farenheit Audio AVN-421) with voice guided NAVTEQ navigation with Linux based OS and 400mhz processor.
Here is the Innovatech one. It stuckout from the dash more then I liked but he liked it just fine the way it was so I left the mounting kit alone but could have modified it to make it sit back some more. Here are some pics:

Those are some sweet mounting kits you guys have! I stuck with the factory HU and bought the isimple from best buy for 100 bucks. It integrates the ipod directly to the factory HU so you get good sound, no modulation, and can control the ipod from your HU, steering wheel controls, OR from the ipod itself.
