My thoughts on the berger panel...
I know there have been several "berger panel" threads but I thought I would add my own. Personally I like the idea of it, but I think the current way its done just falls short of really looking good. I know ideas are like ******** yadda yadda, but it just doesnt look right to me. It looks incomplete. I like how its done on Mach 1's but looks out of place on Camaros. So, I've done some quick photoshopping and came up with this.... Id make this a poll but I dunno how what do you guys think?
Contemporary Berger:
My Berger idea:
I know the that if you put a straight line between the bottom of the two tail lights, the bottom of "camaro" goes below the line. So I know this exact idea isnt feasable unless you either shave the "camaro" or paint the berger to encompass it.

Mainly why some berger style panels don't look that great is because of exactly what you posted, a plain panel with no other dress up.
Compare mine to the one above which do you think looks better?
(Don't worry you won't hurt my feelings)

Without a black roof it looks alittle more out of place. I think gloss black with aluminium fill ins looks the best. I just picked up and extra rear panel to do it with. If it doesn't look right I'll just dump it.

I agree with GM. Black roof cars look great with the panel. And yes, just having a random black panel does look incomplete, it needs a camaro fill in or a centered Z28 or some other emblem to really look good.
That's an interesting idea, but IMO it would be hard as hell to do, and kind of looks like a camaro tubetop. call me crazy.
EDIT: oh and crazymike is right. That car is missing an SS spoiler to really look badass.

I also thought of that idea a couple of years ago, seeing as it seems to flow a bit better between the taillights. But the beauty of the Berger mod is that it can be done at your home with the proper materials. The one you've posted is more of a custom job, seeing as you have to paint part of the bottom of the hatch.
Good idea, but I like the current Berger way.

I think more so, I'm just tired of seeing the hundreds of people that have done it anymore. I used to get sick of seeing everyone buying SS hood, y2k rims, SS spoiler, lowering the car and then calling it "finished," but the berger mod is 10 fold more overdone because it's so cheap (paint cost, etc). Dunno, I used to like it a couple years ago, but I'd never do the actual berger mod now because too many people have done it. It's gone way too mainstream. Sucks when you go to an FBody event, and half of the cars all have berger panels.

I don't particularly care for how the Berger panel abruptly ends on the edges either. But I don't see any other way to make it look right (rounded ends wouldn't look right either).
One day it'll be an uncommon sight to see a fourth-gen Camaro that doesn't have this mod.

IMO, it looks best the way it was intended to be done. The other way puts it to high up on the rear of the car. I do agree that finishing it off with fill ins and some accents really does add to it though.
