The owner is a Track Master instructor, (along with other thing I forgot) But the car is track races a LOT. The stock LS1 was burning some oil for some time, and had some cylinders getting low on a compression test. There only so many years you can road race a stock motor. I've only been out in this car for 1 session around the glen. And its so much more demanding that any street driving or drag racing. Its 30-45mins at WOT 4,500-6,500 RPMs, And sometimes on a thurs-sun weekend you can do this several times.

The car had the the normal bolt ons:

Stock LS6 intake
New era ported stock TB,
SLP Lid
underdrive pulley
GMMG catback
And a smaller comp cams, cam in the 22x range that has been out for a few years, with supporting mods.
1 3/4 SLP long tube headers (these things suck to work on)
SLP catted Y-pipe

Mike tuned it and it was making 364whp 369wtq back in the spring of 2007. (that's the latest date I found, looking tonight. But this setup I think has been around many years before that even, 2003ish I think?)

So it was decided by the owner to buy a new GM LS6 motor to replace his tired LS1. And he had been wanting to change some of his parts, to newer ones. To take advantage of some of the latest improvements, of power, materials, and fit & finish. So at this time he upgraded to:

1 7/8 AmercianRacing headers, with there merge collectors (same set I run on my car) And there Y-pipe, everything is stainless, made in the USA.

New Era Street Sweeper High Torque Camshaft (LINK)

Specs Int Ext
Duration @ .050 228 232
Lift .612 .600
LSA : 111

A few other road race guys have used this cam, And it does really good.
That curve is awesome, not many stock 346s on stock heads break 400wtq. And 400whp @ 4800 to redline is great too,
And this motor will make more power after it gets some miles on it.

is this New Era street sweeper HT cam as good as EPS cams? does it have new lobe design?

this street sweeper cam makes some good power cam only and even with LS6 intake.

ya, a fast makes more power then a LS6, thats a givin. Porting them is another, some just run a sand roll around, quick and take some pics. I havn't seen many ported/non ported A-B-A test. I gained 9whp I think it was going to a fast92 setup over my LS6 with a ported stock TB. Not as much as I was hoping.

This is not the same cam I ran.

Streetsweeper HT
Specs Int Ext
Duration @ .050 228 232
Lift .612 .600
LSA : 111

I never ran it, your thinking of the normal streetsweeper in my car. Its a step above it, for supporting mods, another great street cam. I made 425whp/393wtq with the mods in sig, running deep 10's @128 NA on stock heads.

Streetsweeper camshaft
Specs Int Exh
Duration @ .050 236 240
Lift .630 .612
LSA : 111

The power band in't that high, makes peak power little over 6K. Look at the dyno chart to see the rpm range. Its for stock short blocks so you don't have to spin them to much and loose engine life. The stock LS6 redline is 6500 I belive. I have my shiftlight set at 6400, thats were it like it best in my car (the 236 streetsweeper). Ive shifted higher 6800 maybe 7K moving it up tring to go faster. And the car runs slower, and the mph drops off. So its right were it should be.

Yeah, a stock internal LS6 likes to be shifted around 6600-6700. The stock limiter on an LS6 is way too low.

sweet98ss, what you are leaving out with this is that you are running the original streetsweeper, they are talking about the HT version which is a little smaller, and whats funny is that the HT made both more power and torque than its bigger brother, both are very good cams, and I will be going with the HT for the broader torque curve, good results by the way
