Default Please help design a F1r pro charged ls3

Hi I am wanting to build a pro charged LS3 based engine and have little to no knowledge on Ls engines. It will be going into a 69 camaro.

First off, what are the goals of the car? Pure street, street/strip, or pure strip? What kind of power do you want to make? The F1-R is fully capable of making 1000+ rwhp.

The car will See a bit of everything auto cross, drags and cruising, it's being built with a ten point cage, triangulated 4 link rear and a 4l80e trans. I am hoping for around the
1000rwhp.

The LS3 is a great platform for your build. What rotating assembly are you going with? What compression? Heads? I just built a LS2 418 cubed with Eagle crank and H-beam rods and Arias pistons. Compression is at 9 to 1, I'm running All Pro heads with a FAST 90 intake and LS7 TB both ported. The head unit is a F1A with a innovative crank pulley and 8 rib setup and I'm very happy with the out come.

Hi Brandon

At this stage I dont have anything at all, the car has a 509BB in it at the moment and I am looking to go Procharged LS on pump gas. As I say I really have no idea on the LS motors and Iam looking for as much input as possible. I really wan't to get it right the first time. I stated LS3 because I have them in my dalily drivers (VE SS Comodore sedan and VE SS comodore ute) and I have heard good things about the avaliable performance. I am open to all suggestions (ie) aftermarket blocks ect, but I would like to stay ally.
I will import what ever I need as I have to import everything else for the car.

Regards
Greg

what is your budget looking like?

i'd do something like a 415ci shortblock from schwanke
ported l92 heads
custom cam
gmpp l92 carbed intake drilled for injectors with a 4150 style TB and a carb hat ontop

My budget isn't open ended, but it's not on the low side either, do you think around 20 - 25,000 should do it ? I want it to fit under a 2" cowl hood and I am running an Art Morrisson front clip.

I would suggest a 4 inch Callies crank, Callies Compstar rods, JE or Diamond pistons with a 9:1 SCR, and AFR heads. That should get you at your power goal.

20-25k counting the F1r kit?

you can get a complete 427 ls3 from tsp with

your choice of cam (custom probabally avail.)
custom piston set
total seal steel ring set
callies compstar rods
callies compstar crank
arp main studs
prc L92 heads with 71cc chambers and rocker arms and pedestals
arp head studs
ls7 lifters

for 9400 then buy a GMPP l92 carbed intake have injector bungs welded in use 80# injectors (maybe more) and a 4150 style TB with a carb hat < all that will run you around 1500ish then you have a complete motor and have around 10k for blower FMIC and computer and so on

that should easily get you to 1000+ hp

ERL blocks are the ****! 6 bolts heads pattern and aluminum block, cant get much better than that.

I am sure you can get a bad *** 408 and a F1R for less than 20k

Check out the above link to our 402 build. The LS3 would be similar.

We basically used the above combination with off the shelf AFR 225cc heads on the CTS-V at this link. Check out the dyno sheet at the bottom of the link. The F-1A has a lot more left in it too. Bob
