Oneoverwrx turbo 4.8L 240sx track results
Went to the track today, air was good, temp was good....anyway
Car currently has 10psi spring in the wastegate, creeps to 13.
Setup is a fresh 4.8 with stock 243s
Patriot dual gold springs
Z06 cam ls7 lifters
Arp mains, head studs, and rod bolts(gen 4 internals in gen 3 block)
Ls9 gaskets
Manifold kit with 2" crossover.
eBay gt45
4" dp
Walbro 485
80 lb injectors
Aeromotive 1:1
-10 feed -6 return
Made 4 passes
First was a short hit, 6.70@107
Second was a full pass but the car bogged 1.62 60' 6.63@110 10.13@140
Third pass was good, 1.53 6.3@112 9.78@142
Fourth pass was the best
1.51
4.14
6.29@113
9.69@142, in the limiter pretty good. (100' I would guess)
Next weekend we will be turning it up but I'm thrilled with the car on the wastegate spring. It could 60' a bit better but I'm ok with it.
One thing I wanna ask you all is how high can I rev this thing. Today was 7k. Next weekend I'm thinking 7500 but I still don't know if that's enough. Should I keep upping the rpm or shift to 5th....
I'd like to thank my tuner dkgoodrich.com check him out

We are planning on pushing as far as we can. Car weighed 2680 with 3 gallons of fuel and the street wheels and tires on it. Today with the welds and 3/4 tank and me@225 we were right at 2900#s

Only concern with the rpm's would be the rods/bolts.
but as suggested if the 4.8 has a shorter stroke there will be slightly less loads placed on them. Although just slightly.
The cam is fine and springs, so you wont be pushing the valvetrain that hard. But is it even happy to spin to 7500rpm ?
Hanging on in 4th gear to cross the line shouldnt pose too many issues. Probably no benefit shifting that high in the lower gears though

I agree. I usually shift the car around 6800 rpms. Was still going to do that the same it ride 4th out. I just don't think 500 more rpm will get me where I need to be. We are going to be adding quite a bit of power. Hopefully the videos will be up today and I'll post them up.

This thing is awesome. Im doing the same thing but I have an s14 and going with a 5.3 but same turbo. Can you post engine pics o would like yo see your turbo placement for ideas. Is it stock t56 transmission? Also what rear end? I was planing on the q45 rear end for mine. Any dyno numbers?

Tire is a 28x9, supposed to measure 27.3 tall. Possibly fit a true 28 but not a 28x10.50. I'll have to check my options. 7500 should get me to 156mph not factoring any growth. Not really sure what to expect. I'm going to try and figure out the growth and go from there.

That is awesome. What kind of timing do you have in it? Any meth? I'm around the same weight with a 5.3, bigger cam with a mp70 and I only went 126mph my first time out.

wow, congrats. that thing is hauling the mail for basically 10 psi.. even 13 is moving. for comparison, my car did 115 in the eighth on 14.2 psi on the 4.8. this was a 3100 race weight.
i saw 7800 once but i was young and dumb. mostly it was around a 7500 shift point. but my cam at 230/234 was was too big and needed the rpms. you have way less cam(a good thing) so i dont think you should rev it much higher than you are now. I would keep it at 7200, maybe 7300 MAX
what fuel and timing are you running. imo, the key to power if you have the right gas is timing.

We are super conservative on the timing right now. Last pass we were at 13* at redline, at 13psi. So in my opinion basically pumpgas timing. The car is on e85, I haven't bought a tester yet so we are keeping the timing conservative. We are also watching the knock sensors every pass. It picks up a little bit in the shifts but nothing during wot.
As far as rpm, it is strictly for 4th gear to keep me from going to 5th. I'm know I am probably falling off some power up there but shifting to 5th is a killer. I have had to do it my whole life in these imports and I really don't wanna shift this setup into 5th. I'm hoping 7500 will be enough. What would fail? I have good bolts and newer gen4 rods.

i was running 28 degrees timing at full boost high rpms on e85(e76 to be exact).
now with the 6.0 im running around 20 at full tilt on methanol.
i would up that timing to 20 or 21 and it should pick up a lot of hp. i read a study that shows very little difference in knock suppression between e50 and e85.
make sure you flow your aeromotive pump and verify that it is flowing what its advertised to flow. my old one is what cost me my engine.
the load on the conrods goes up exponentially with rpm is what ive read so i try to be careful with the rpms. keep the timing low once you get above 7200 and you should be fine

My pump is a Walbro 485. Fpr is Aeromotive. System seems to be working well. Hasn't gotten lean yet. I'll keep the timing stuff in mind, I know there is power there we were more or less just making shakedowns. Once we get the power up we will be maximizing our tune, reading plugs and all that.
Car is on a tr6 right now. I have some 7 I may put in before we up the boost
