Magnaflow/carsound makes direct replacement cats. You can find them on e-bay or summit. Other places(not sponsers) sell them also.

Interesting question but I think the answer is none.

Stock pup-cats are funky, one-off, small and bent.
You can't fit a bigger case in where they go and all
you could do for high flow, is make a less effective
(larger passages) "brick". I believe a metallic substrate
(like many aftermarket high flow cats) would get hurt
quick, that close in to the motor (overtemp threshold
has got to be lower).

Now, you can increase the flow mightily with your
friend Mr. Crowbar but they're going to be somewhat
less effective at saving the endangered speckled
tadpole, then. Even more so than "high flow" cats.

I disagree....I have the magnaflow direct replacement cats, and they are very nice. They don't have a larger incasement than stock. They have almost twice the holes per square inch as the stock cats, and a much more fluid design. They are 50 state legal and made to pass emissions and last a long time. They fit, look and flow very well.

In addition to Magnaflow, Random Tech used to make an entire replacement Y-pipe for stock manifolds that also included cats (in the stock location). Not sure if that piece is still sold, probably more expensive than the magnaflow option, but if you wanted a whole aftermarket Y-pipe including cats, that would be another option.

Two words:

Random Technology

Get the 7000 series Metal Matrix ones. They good for motors producing about 550bhp.

However, unless you are changing the headers and the mid pipe there really is no point in swapping the CATS over.

It depends on what you have done to your car, and what your future plans are. In my situation, there is a point, and gains to be had by swapping out the cats.
