guide by wire throttle body bypass?
I am trying to figure out how to bypass the guide by wire throttle body and use a cable pull throttle body. I am looking for the plug wire color codeing and possible voltage numbers. If anyone has a diagram with these in them or know of a way to make this work I would appreciate the help. I am putting an 05 5.3L motor into my 83 chevy truck. We are going on 4 months with this project and most of it has been wiring but were so close and I am so ready to have my truck back. thanks for any help.

I just did this last night while re-working the harness I got out of a 2003 Trailblazer SS for my car...I am also switching to a 2000 Camaro computer at the same time, I had to change the blue plug to a red plug, and re-pin the connector as it was different...I also added the pins for fans and a/c stuff, and what you have to do for the cable throttle body is add two plugs, one for TPS sensor and one for the IAC motor, the pins on the truck plug are just empty.

so when you did this did you just cut the plug from the old throttle body and splice in the plugs for the IAC and TPS? If so which wires did what, I have not been able to locate a pin out for that plug. do I have to switch the red and blue plug, I already have the computer and harness setup with the blue plug, thats why I ask. I am really trying to figur eout how to make it work with what I have.

I sort of worked differently through the harness, first i re-pinned the plug and switched to red, then i took out all the pins i wasnt using and took all the wires associated with them out of the harness. then, I added stuff i needed like the fans, a/c and fuel pump pins, and the throttle body stuff. there are 7 wires that need to run from pcm to the throttle body, 3 for the tps and 4 for the IAC. i am attaching wiring diagrams to this post that I used on my truck wiring, and colors matched. they are from a '03 Silverado 3500HD 6.0L motor. If they dont match let me know which year/truck your setup is out of, i'll post the diagrams.

Yea I'm trying to figure out the wires but I dont have a pin out for the 5.3L in an 01 truck. We have decide to use the 03 fusebox but rewire it to adapt to the 01 computer requirements if anyone has a pinout diagram for the 01 chevy trucks with a 5.3l I would appreciate the help.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, I just have a quick question about the re-pinning of the ECMs.
Where do you guys get the tooling to remove the pins from the connectors without damaging the connector or pin ?? Is this something I can get at a local parts store or GM or ?

Now for the rest of the westherpack connectors you do need a tool, or to make one. You can buy them at most autoparts stores. I don`t know if the autozone/murrays chains carry them but NAPA and the better stores definently do. I think I picked my weatherpack tool up at a farm and fleet.

Thanks for the 411. I will look around for the weatherpack tooling.
