Default Steering recall on 2006 Monte Carlo SS

Hey all, hopefully you can help me with this. I have an '06 Monte Carlo SS with 67,000 miles. It is currently at the dealer because it's leaking power steering fluid which they tell me is a result of a hole in the power steering "pipe assembly" (It's been below 0 degrees all week), which is going to cost $350+ to replace. I searched online about recalls, and saw that there was steering recall for my car, but i have no idea if this would be the part. Just wondering if anyone would know more about this, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
JP

Haven't heard about this but aren't recalls usually dealer expense?

It's a recall. Same thing happened to my car last year. I think It should be somewhere in this forum if you search a few years back.

I did some forum searching and had no luck, maybe I missed it? As a fellow South Dakotan (I'm assuming thats the SD in your login), good to see someone who understands how cold it is!

Got my car back today and the receipt says the "return cooler line" was leaking and then replaced. $100 in parts, $250 in labor! The part was described as "pipe kit 6.602" and the number was 19177770. The dealer says that there has been no recall on this, however I have little faith with this particular dealer.

Just wondering if you knew what part number you had replaced on recall? Or if you knew anything more about it.

Thank you (Stay Warm!)

Here is a few posts about the recall. I never did get the recall done in time, before my hose blew, so I couldn't tell you the reference number. I do know I got a recall notice in the mail though.

Default 2006 monte carlo ss steering

The power steering line ruptured on my car when it was 17 months old, in the dead of winter. The dealer replaced it and said they used cheap metal.
I'm not sure about recalls but if they replaced many of them, then they all should be replaced.
My battery also took a dump after two years.
I want to put a supercharger on it as well as the headers.

There isn't one. Just the cartuning turbo option or run some nitrous.

I called the dealer today and there is a recall for the steering hose they will do this on March 20 They ordered the parts today for my car. The reason so long of a wait its my choice the tech is a friend of mine and were going to install the headers and a few other things at the same time as the hose we have the use of the shop on Saturday afternoon.
