Got beat by a 94-98 Cobra(Want to know what you guys think he had done to it)

Default Got beat by a 94-98 Cobra(Want to know what you guys think he had done to it)

94-98 body stye cobra came up on me on hwy 90 and we went from bout a 50moh roll. He hit it 1st then I hit it and we stayed even for a second or 2 then he was just pulling away. I didnt spray bottle was empty, I think he sprayed but he said he didnt. I heard no super charger, turbo, or cam.Im sure it had full exhaust. But with my mods in sig I think he,d have to have something more than that Iv never seen that bottle style cobra get in 12s with bolt ons sure some have but iv never seen it. Im sure if my bottle was full Id have beat him but I was just surprised he beat me saying he didnt spray, Then i had to take it out on a newer stock gt and beat him pretty good from stop and a slow roll. Any Ideas bout that SNAKE?

Centrif. or a nice H/C/I setup....or some 'built' combo of hte sort.

Could have been a nicely done 331cid in a 94-95 cobra.

There is a guy i know that had a 98 cobra it ran 12.40's on motor and that was back in 99. He also sprayed the car and ran 11.40's on a 150 shot, he had all the bolt on's. I sometimes wonder if he had a crate motor from ford, they make a 4v motor that makes more power than the stock 4v.

What did the tail lights look like? if they were horizontal it was a 94-95, if they were vertical then it was a 96-98..


if it was a 94-95 stroker or a really nice heads/cam....or centifigul blower

96-97 bolt ons and spray, heads flow amazing stock and cams are insnaely expensive and little gain. so that leaves you to a centrifigul blower or spray.

pony guess is the same as mine.

Although a good geared bolt on 4v with some weight reduction could prolly pull it off.

Havent been driving my car much lately been thinking bout selling it, but now want to run him again and find out what he has done to that car. Think thats the 1st mustang 94-2004 (besides 03-04 cobras)thats ever beat me. Im sure theres faster stangs just havent ever came across any.

It's hard to say without having looked under the hood. Although, I ran 11.98@112.9 in a n/a 302 c.i. hatchback fox. AFR 165 heads, custom cam, and a ported cobra intake. The same parts on a 94-95 GT would still make the car a low 12 second 111mph car, which would probably be just enough to pull the way you described. My car had a mild cam and dynoed 311rwhp, and probably made more like 320rwhp when it ran the time mentioned. I've seen 340-350 rwhp on very streetable 302 c.i. setups with a better intake and a more aggressive cam.

So, you could've run into anything: a well researched h/c/i 302 or stroker, an appropriately modded DOHC 4.6/5.0 could make that kind of power n/a, too. You probably would've heard a supercharger or turbocharger, but it's possible that you'd have missed the sound of the quiet vortechs like the V2-SQ. Nitrous, as you know, is impossible to hear/smell etc... So, you'll never really know what was done to that stang. I'd like to believe you finally ran into one that was built right.

^^ This. Its hard to say what was done to it without knowing if it was a 5.0 or a 4.6...

I thought so. It's prolly a friend of mine. He went low 13's at 108, and has done a few more things. It's an n/a 4v.

If that was the car he must have done some more to it since that run at the track.
Just the way we were kinda even at 1st made me think maybe nitrious, but could have had a little cam in it also. Iv beaten a stock 03-04 cobra b4 off the bottle. That was just a surprise when he started pulling me.

Couldnt really hear it that well. It was kinda quite for a stang, My car was probably as loud if not louder at WOT.

Just ridiculous, 1of the few times i needed the spray my bottle was empty, been having problems with it leaking nitrious out the bottle, Iv already sent it off before to have new seals put in it to stop it from leaking, gonna have a buddy look at it this week to see if it can be fixed.

With a 108 trap he should be running better that a low 13 at the track, most likely just doesn't have enough ability to hook but according to your N/A trap should have been a race from a roll, wonder what gears he has probably something a bit steeper than stock. Definitely a full bolt on car if it is n/a and possibly a bit of massaging on the heads/intake?
