Barely driven and still in immaculate, showroom condition, this 1979 Pontiac Trans Am is the cream of its crop.

In recent months, we’ve seen more than a couple of pristine, low-mile, second-generation Camaros and Firebirds pop up for sale, cars that were clearly stored away for decades and rarely driven. These cars are truly amazing finds, particularly since most of their kind were driven with no care as to how they might be preserved for future years, with many of them winding up being modified to boot. However, this incredible 1979 Pontiac Trans Am that recently surfaced for sale on eBay might just take the cake given its stellar condition and mere 3,059 original miles.

There’s obviously a lot to like about this 1979 Pontiac Trans Am aside from its low mileage total. For starters, it’s in truly amazing, brand new, showroom condition, which isn’t always the case with older, low-mile vehicles. Finished in Mayan Red paint, there just aren’t any visible flaws that we can find, and it’s bone stock to boot. There’s no wear, fading, or even peeling of the car’s decals, which means that it was clearly loved for over the past several decades, even if it was rarely driven during that time span.

The same goes for the blazing red Hobnail interior, which has zero visible wear, even on the seat bolsters. Aside from taking a trip back in time by hopping in this cabin, you’ll also notice that it’s well-equipped with air conditioning, rear defrost, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo system, with not a single aftermarket upgrade in sight.

Power for this immaculate 1979 Pontiac Trans Am comes from GM’s 400 cubic-inch V8, which made a mere 220 horsepower at the time, though it’s worth remembering that this was pretty much the pinnacle of performance in the late ’70s. It’s also mated to a proper four-speed manual transmission, with power steering and power brakes helping to make the driving experience more pleasant.

Unsurprisingly, interest in this immaculate machine has been steady, with bids coming fast and furious thus far. It certainly isn’t every day that we come across any old Trans Am in this kind of condition – let alone one with so few original miles – and prospective buyers have certainly taken note of that fact here.
