2020 Yenko Camaro Sells for a Whopping $125K at Auction
The seller of this Yenko Camaro managed to rake in a tidy profit after hanging on to it for just a few years.
Yenko is a name that’s synonymous with muscle car performance, stemming all the way back to the heyday for those classic American machines in the ’60s and ’70s. A few years ago, Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) revived that legendary moniker to create a small number of special machines based on the Corvette and Camaro, and in 2020, that included this – a Camaro 2SS that was fitted with the Yenko/SC Stage II package, a special treatment that was only applied to 50 cars that same model year. This 2020 Yenko Camaro has a mere 28 miles on the clock, and it recently sold at Bring a Trailer for a rather eye-opening sum.
When the 2020 Yenko Camaro debuted, it actually did so as a value proposition with a price tag of just under $70k, but for that outlay of cash, customers got a whole heck of a lot of performance, style, and exclusivity. On the outside, that included a carbon fiber hood, Yenko badging, a hood scoop, a front splitter, rear spoiler, and unique 20-inch wheels, capped off by Crush paint with black Yenko/SC stripes in this case.
Inside the cabin, SVE gave its Yenko Camaro models Recaro seats with embroidered headrests, Yenko-branded doorsills and floor mats, and a serialized plaque, which joins a host of factory amenities such as dual-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, and a performance data recorder, to boot.
Of course, that latter bit will come in handy, because this Yenko Camaro is packing serious heat under the hood – GM’s 6.8-liter V8, which in this case has been stuffed with a forged steel crankshaft, H-beam connecting rods, and forged aluminum pistons, and is fitted with CNC ported LT4 cylinder heads, long tube headers, a stainless steel exhaust with high-flow cats, and of course, a supercharger. The results were quite impressive, as SVE says the 2020 Yenko Camaro churns out a cool 1,000 horsepower and 875 pound-feet of torque.
Flowing to the wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, the modern Yenko Camaro is, as one might imagine, a lot of car for that aforementioned $70k MSRP. Of course, things have changed a lot since 2020 (you may have noticed), and today, getting one’s hands on this rare piece of machinery will set you back far more, apparently, as this pristine example hammered for a whopping $125,000 at auction.
Regardless, this doesn’t come as a huge surprise given how special and rare these cars are, coupled with rising collector car values and inflation in general. Heck, we may look back at this sale in a few years and say the new owner got a deal, in fact. But for now at least, it’s an impressive return on the original owner’s investment, if nothing else.
