When the first DMCs were prototyped at auto shows decades ago by John DeLorean the car was ground-breaking just like this Corvette LS1-Swapped DeLorean. This DeLorean started out as a basic DMC but over the course of a 12 year relationship with it’s current owner and an all-time historical senior project at the University of Cincinnati, today we have this mid-engine American monster. Featured on Velocity’s Car Fix, where it got it super stardom, this particular DMC keeps getting great media and looks like the owner is continuing to tune and doctor so let’s check out the modifications mentioned.

Nicholas Roedl, this DMC’s owner, in my perspective has had the best university senior project of the year with this V8 engine swap into the DeLorean. He didn’t just toss in any Corvette LS eight-cylinder engine, he added power components that definitely has added sound, power and reliability. From Lingenfelter Mr. Roedl has installed high-performance heads and camshafts as well as LS6 intake manifolds and an LS6 PCV system. A splice of factory and aftermarket seem like a good batch of goodies to modify with.

The original DeLorean was fitted with a 2.8 liter six-cylinder engine mounted-mid ship that was one of the downfalls of the production vehicle. I’m sure from watching the video how light this DMC is on it feet now. That heavy steel body and frame was maybe light in the day but it’ll sure feel light now.

Although it might have a massive power increase the clutch pedal still has a tremendously long pedal throw. With over 425 horsepower to the rear wheels I imagine a driver might like a little shorter pedal engagement. Sure he is working on that. How would you feel about a mid-engined V8 American sportscar that is also a celebrity? Take your money now you say. Yes me too. This fella did a great job. What LS would you install into the DMC?
