He sticks the landing!

Recently, a video started making the rounds on social media of an utterly wild moment at a drag race. After a bit of research, we found one of the craziest drag races ever! At the recent No Guts, No Glory 8 in Orlando, the races were definitely hot and the wheels were up. Really up. But one grudge match between a Camaro Z28 and a Fox body Mustang took things to a whole other level.

First, we need to point out that everyone was okay after the race. No injuries; well except that beautiful cherry red Camaro.

Now, on to the insanity! Frankie Gurano rolled into this year’s event with a new ride, and scores to settle. His red Camaro Z28 “Tainted Blood”  first made its debut just facing off against “Ghost Buster,” the green Mustang. Things seem to start off okay, and then the Camaro goes nose up.

At the speed, and with what we are guessing is way too much nitrous, the Camaro just takes off.

Making this race even more remarkable is how long the Camaro keeps on doing! Flying in the face of physics, the Camaro surges forward while completely vertical.

While the crowd holds its breath, we all are thinking it””What comes up must come down.” And it does; and it hurts. Piece after piece of the front end start flying off the Camaro. Yet, it still keeps going! Driver Michael Boykin remains ever so cool throughout, and executes an impressive landing.

Not only does he land the shredded Camaro that reached heights in the hundreds of feet, he does it wheels down just a few feet after the finish line. That is some Steve McQueen-level of cool. We cannot give Boykin and fellow driver Jamie Hawes enough credit for their superior handling.

No matter what angle you watch it from, this is a race we won’t soon forget.

“Tainted Blood” will be headed back into the shop for some much needed work. With the front end decimated, Gurano will start by assessing the damage, replacing parts, and get to wrenching.

With the 2021 racing season just around the corner, we know this “Never Say Die” Camaro will be ready to roll…or fly.
