Dubai, Home to Man-Made Islands and Fire and Rescue Corvettes

In America, we get Chevrolet Sparks that have been turned into pizza delivery vehicles with warming ovens. Meanwhile, Dubai is adding converted Chevrolet Corvette Stingrays its fire and rescue fleet. Sounds about right.

Dubai is already known for its ostentatious and completely unnecessary fleet of police vehicles that has just about every supercar under the sun, including a Lamborghini Aventador, a Ferrari FF, a Bugatti, an Aston Martin One-77, and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG … just to name a few. And it seems that bravado has bled into other city departments, as well, as the Fire and Rescue team reportedly has Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingrays.

The cool part is they’re not just for show in their flaming yellow paint and neat red graphics. They actually have first-aid equipment, a fire extinguisher, and monitoring systems. Let’s just hope the drivers are all given lessons and know how to properly drive rear-wheel-drive sports cars with 455 horsepower under stressful gotta-get-there situations.

It looks like there’s a F&R Raptor in the background, as well.

Here’s a good look at the lights and the gear in the rear:
