The Cadillac Elmiraj is Coming!
Who else was wowed by the Cadillac Elmiraj concept last year? I know I was. Cadillac has long since been known for producing large luxury cars, and especially some of the cushiest places to sit in and drive.
But lately, they really haven’t had a grand marque to show off with. Sure they have the CTS, and all the new tech in its new lineup.
But they’ve been missing that grand coupe, a grand tourer, something to show the world that Cadillac is still majorly invested in the luxury game.
The Elmiraj was that showcase. And it received such high praise, and such attention that the automaker seems to have designed the consumer version which has been seen testing for a while now.
But no word has been uttered on when we may see the car in the flesh. Until now. Speaking to Autoblog, a Cadillac insider told them that the new car would probably drop at next year’s New York Autoshow.
But because Cadillac is trying to recover from those years of obscurity, the new flagship might not be as wonderfully awesome as the concept was.
Cadillac needs to recover all the profits it lost when the brand lost its way in the 90’s and early 2000’s, and in order to do that, Cadillac needs to cut its costs and prices on its cars to attract more buyers than its competitors.
But that also means they can’t spend as much money developing the cars luxury aesthetic as much as say Audi, BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes can.
Hopefully they don’t cut costs too much, and keep with the spirit of the Elmiraj concept. We’ve seen when Cadillac cuts costs, it’s what led them to almost financial ruin. Just build the concept Cadillac, it will sell itself.
