When Chevrolet introduced the SSR (short for Super Sport Roadster) in 2003 it was a lot to take in. It was a lower, smaller pickup; and a convertible. It was a little, well, kind of crazy.
But beyond the visual disconnect was some serious fury. Under the hood it housed a 5.3-liter, 300 hp Vortec 5300 V8 in ’03 and ’04. The next year saw a boost to 390 hp running on the C6 Corvette’s LS2 V8. No matter what you thought of the Chevy SSR, it was a high-performance truck through and through. Just look at her go.
