Supercharged LSX-swapped BMW M3 Goes Drifting

By -

A German car, with an American heart being driven sideways by a Frenchman.

There are few automotive combinations that sound as ridiculous on paper, but perhaps that’s the secret to success. Because this car looks like some serious fun to drive.

If you want to know what engine a multi-time drifting champion chooses, then ask four-time French Drift Champion Benjamin Boulbes. Naturally, he would tell you that it’s the LSX.

There is no mistaking the sound of a supercharged LSX. This 376 LSX sports a 4.5-liter Whipple supercharger and puts down 900-horsepower and 885-lb-ft or torque. Putting that down, he was able to take this E93 (convertible) chassis BMW to his fourth French Drift Championship in 2017, and even won the final round of their season.

Benjamin also competes in a limited schedule in the King of Europe series, which tours all around the continent and visting Austria, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland Germany, and Greece in their eight-round championship. This year, he did all but the final three rounds but still wound up in 11th place for the 2017 King of Europe Pro Series points standings. Prepare your ears, we must warn you, as this engine is loud and proud for a French-built drift car.
