Hennessey Resurrection ZL1 1LE

Following up the ‘Exorcist’ Camaro ZL1, Hennessey’s new avenging angel packs amped-up version of Corvette ZR1’s V8.

If there’s anything we can count on from the crazy Texans over at Hennessey Performance, it’s the utterly brutal creations they unleash upon the world. No matter the brand, no matter the ride, if it has performance potential, John Hennessey and his crew of mad scientists will inject it with enough testosterone to rip off a bank vault door with one hand, bare-handed.

Two years ago, Hennessey accomplished such a feat with the Camaro ZL1, delivering the 1,000-horsepower “Exorcist” upon quarter-miles suffering possession from Dodge Demons. On November 5 at SEMA 2019 in Las Vegas, the Demon hunter returned from the grave to reclaim the drag strip from all Hellcats, in the form of the “Resurrection” Camaro ZL1 1LE.

HOLY DRIVER: ‘The Resurrection’ evolved from ‘The Exorcist,’ which was a name inspired by the Dodge Demon.

“He is Risen!” said Hennessey. “Our team has been waiting to offer a more powerful version of The Exorcist. We’ve built several 1,200 horsepower C7 ZR1 Corvettes, so we knew we could deliver this same power level in the ZL1 1LE, but we just needed a cool name to fit the car. ‘The Resurrection’ seemed to be the perfect evolution of ‘The Exorcist,’ which was a name that was ultimately inspired by the Dodge Demon.”

The magic behind the hardcore ZL1 1LE resides within the engine bay. Instead of the already formidable supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8, whose 650 horses are nothing to sneeze at, Hennessey drops in the supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 V8 from the Corvette ZR1, which makes 755 horses.

Of course, that’s still not enough power for the Redeye slayer, so it gains a CNC-ported 2.65-liter supercharger with upgraded pulleys and belts, CNC-ported heads, upgraded intercooler, revamped engine management, and tons of tuning all around. The result is a holy roller with 1,200 horses of the apocalypse ready to purify the asphalt in clouds of white smoke.

It costs a lot to get into Hennessey’s version of Heaven, though, as the total damage for the “Resurrection” Camaro ZL1 1LE is $200,000, including the cost of a new car. It’ll also be a rare sight on the line, as just 24 will ever be made. We think 24 isn’t quite enough to return every drag strip to the glory of the Chevy kingdom, but Hennessey does work in mysterious ways.
