Hennessey Tuned Z/28 Calls Onstar Because of Gs
You’re just sitting there, in your 650+ horsepower Z/28 Camaro. Testing, tuning, doing runs up until 7,000 rpm. Then all of a sudden, “Hello, this is Onstar, are you ok?” What the heck? Such is the life of hot-rodder John Hennessey, or at least is was when he was out testing his Z/28 Camaro out on the track.
Essentially, after tuning the monster car to his liking, Hennessey went out to test the cars abilities, and apparently, it pulls enough g’s that the car thought it was in an accident and called Onstar for assistance!
I’ve driven the new Z/28 Camaro, and let me tell you, in stock form, it feels as if you’re trying to escape Earth’s gravitational pull. Now imagine and extra 150 or so odd horsepower with the same sticky tires, and massive carbon brakes. It’s a wonder the airbags didn’t go off.
John ends the call, and says, “Man, it’s like they know when you’re at a racetrack.” The video goes on to detail the ridiculousness of the Hennessey tuned Camaro, but that first minute or so is just priceless and probably does more for selling these packages than anything John or his team could ever show anyone.
