Livernois Motorsports Open House: Camaro SuperFest 2017
Livernois Motorsports kicks off Camaro SuperFest 2017.
Livernois Motorsports, renowned proprietors of speed, opened their doors to hundreds of Camaro enthusiasts this weekend. As one of the sponsors of Camaro SuperFest 2017, it was only fitting to invite “their people” to the shop and see where the magic happens.
If the name sounds familiar, it should, Livernois is a sponsor and vendor in the LS1tech forums. The brand focuses on speed parts for the Big Three Domestic manufacturers. Of course, the shop floor is a testament to that, covered from corner to corner with shop and customer vehicles. Here is a close-up of a shop project, can you guess the platform?
Oh, and that’s just one of the turbos.
Sorry, no close ups of the customer cars without their permission. That’s alright, because the real magic happens in the back half of the shop. Livernois isn’t just a retailer and installer, no, they do an amazing amount of in-house fabrication, engineering and development. They do everything from motor builds, to part manufacturing and more. When I “in-house” I wasn’t kidding either. Livernois’ marketing head honcho, Cason, took me for a behind the scenes look.
First off is the engine parts room.
The other side of this room is filled with boxes. Boxes and boxes of engine assembly parts. There were more ARP head studs in here than a JEGS store showroom. Moving on is the main assembly room, where several staff members are brought on full-time to build motors.
A couple of engines were on the stands. It goes without saying that the assembly rooms were immaculate. The rooms are partitioned with their own doors, to limit contamination. My garage floor will never look this nice, regardless of how much I try.
That’s all well and good, but the last room is the show stopper for most enthusiasts. This is where parts are made. The full rigmarole of machinery necessary to make all of the fancy billet aluminum pieces and complex-shaped plastic composite pieces is present. Tumblers and cleaning devices, lathes, mills, presses, it’s all here. This is dream garage status for 99% of us.
The team here seemed like a great bunch of people, real car enthusiasts who are stoked to do what they do. So, the next time you see Livernois Motorsports while parts shopping, you should have a good feel for what’s behind these American-made speed parts.
