LS1-Swapped Nissan Silvia S14

Wild, Americanized JDM Nissan Silvia S14 hails from Thailand but features a fully built LS1 under the hood.

By now, we’ve seen just about any kind of LS swap one can imagine. Regardless, we frequently come across builds that blow our minds in a new way, and this LS1-swapped Nissan Silvia S14 certainly fits that bill. YouTuber Edd Ellison recently got the chance to scope out this pint-sized Japanese rocket at MacTech Racing’s shop in Bangkok, Thailand, and needless to say, it’s well worth checking out.

MacTech started the Silvia S14 project by fitting the car with a Rocket Bunny Boss Aero kit, a popular move among the JDM set, particularly in America. But when the time came to figure out how to power the little coupe, the shop just so happened to have an LS1 sitting around that needed a home. “It’s not just a standard one,” Ellison notes. “It’s one that’s been rebuilt with all-new high-performance parts in it.”

“It’s gone up from the standard 5.7 liters to 7.5 liters,” he notes. “It’s a monster in here, an absolute monster.” The specs certainly support that description, as the LS1 block was treated to a Brian Crower BC stroker kit and Darton Block sleeve kit. From there, MacTech added an MSD Atomic AirForce intake manifold, CNC’d heads from Flowlab, Calico bearings, ARP head and main studs, engine bolts, and oil pan bolts, Manley valve springs and retainers, a 105mm Holley throttle body, 900 cc injectors, a Moroso electronic water pump, FuelTech ECU, and MSD ignition.

The healthy engine now makes 600 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, which it sends to the rear wheels via a Tremec T56 six-speed manual fitted with a Tilton clutch. Thanks to those wide fenders, the Silvia S14 can hold much larger rubber than stock to help it hook up as well – 245/40s up front and beefy 335/35s in the rear.

The interior of this Americanized JDM ride is equally impressive, with a mixture of fine materials including Alcantara, leather, and carbon fiber making for a luxurious yet racecar-like finish. All of this fine work has resulted in a Silvia S14 like no other, whether that be in regards to looks, sound, performance, or comfort, but it’s also a testament to the work being done in a shop that’s well over 8,000 miles from the U.S.
