It doesn’t get any more fun than an LS1-powered convertible.

One of the many benefits of joining the forums here on LS1Tech is our Marketplace. Here, you can buy and sell cars and parts. One of our members, rxrom from Staten Island, New York, is selling his 2000 Pontiac Trans Am.

We like to think that buying cars and parts from LS1Tech is a bit better than your average Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace interaction. After all, you’re dealing with knowledgeable enthusiasts. The owner of this particular car has been a member here on LS1Tech for more than 10 years.

Nothing says summer quite like a convertible. There’s still a month or so of summer left, and that leaves plenty of time for some top down cruising. Of course, since you’re here on LS1Tech, you know that a V8 makes cruising in a convertible even more fun.

This black on tan Trans Am convertible looks great with black Corvette ZR1 wheels. We also like the gold hood and trunk stripes – nothing goes together better than black and gold on a Trans Am.

Besides the wheels, this Trans Am convertible has some other desirable upgrades as well. It has an SLP exhaust, subframe connectors, a panhard bar, and Bilstein shocks.

The seller has owned the car since 2010. Currently, the car has just under 90,000 miles. It has an automatic transmission, and rxrom would like to trade it for a six-speed LS1 fourth gen F-body.

If you don’t have such a car to trade, that’s fine, too. The cash price is $8,500, which is pretty fair pricing for a clean fourth gen F-body. We predict that these cars won’t be this cheap for long, however.

LS1 Camaros and Trans Ams are rare compared to their crosstown rival, the SN95/New Edge Ford Mustang. With fewer cars to start with, the rigors of age, rust, and wrecks have left very few clean examples behind.

Prices for nice fourth gen F-bodies are starting to creep up, slowly but surely. If you want one, now is the time to buy. Wait too much longer, and you could be priced out of the market.
