NASCAR Racer on Bring A Trailer Wants To Live In Your Garage

NASCAR Monte Carlo on Bring A Trailer

NASCAR Monte Carlo, driven by Casey Mears, still wears its original livery and packs 800 horses of Chevrolet V8 Power.

Every once in a while, something comes up for sale that you have just to take a second to admire. Whether it’s a crazy custom build or a full-blown retired NASCAR race car from Hendrick Motorsports, you will do a double take. In this case, it’s the latter. It’s certainly far from street legal. However, that’s not stopping our imaginations. We want this thing, and we want it bad! As you might suspect, though, the most prohibitive bit about that desire is the price tag.

This number 25 NASCAR Chevrolet Monte Carlo is currently for sale on the auction powerhouse website Bring A Trailer. At the time of writing, it’s got a whole week of bidding left and has already reached a bid of $16,025. We don’t expect it to slow down, either. Though it’s not linked to any legendary drivers per se, it is, in fact, an actual NASCAR car that competed in 2007.

Allegedly, anyway.

Not for Daily Use, Clearly

A quick glance at the interior is a stark reminder that this is not a vehicle you’d want to take out for a stroll on the streets. Okay, fine, maybe once, just for fun. But don’t say we didn’t warn you that the cops aren’t going to appreciate it the way you do.

It still has its original full roll cage and all of its safety equipment. That includes a fire suppression system! Of course, it also has the original fixed bucket seat. So, if you’re not tall or short enough to comfortably reach the pedals, well, too bad! You’d best get to fabricating some new seat mounts!

If that’s not enough race car goodness to convince you you need it, maybe the fact that it’s still wearing its full National Guard GMAC livery will do the trick!

Powerplant Might Convince You, Too

Let’s get down to what you want to know. You want to know what’s under the hood, right?

Under the hood is a 358 cubic-inch Chevrolet V8, and it comes with a dyno sheet. You know, in case you thought NASCAR racers were a little down on power compared to what you might think. Worry not! That dyno sheet reads an average power output of around 800 horsepower with an accompanying 550+ pound-feet of torque. That’s more than enough, we’d say!

Power courtesy of that engine makes its way through a Jericho four-speed manual transmission and continues on to a solid rear axle, delivering it exclusively to the rear tires.

While we can’t say what this car will sell for, we can certainly say we’re happy we got a chance to check it out on this fantastic listing. If you’ve got the money kicking around and want to add this to your collection, don’t hesitate to bid! It’ll be gone before you know it!
