Carlisle is calling all Hurst-equipped hot rods for this all-American tradition.

Carlisle Events, the geniuses behind several of the biggest car shows in the country, like Corvettes at Carlisle, have something very special planned. On July 13 and 14, Carlisle will be hosting the second annual Hurst Nationals event at the Carlisle Expo Center.

Hurst made a name for itself starting back in 1968 with the Hurst-Oldsmobiles that ran the streets and the strip. With catchy names like the Rocket 455, Hurst injected a serious dollop of performance into Oldsmobile.

But it wasn’t just Oldsmobile, Hurst has had an illustrious history with all American marques, and General Motors products, especially. Now, Hurst is giving back to the community that made them with their second-annual Hurst Nationals. All makes and models are welcomed, as long as they are rocking Hurst gear, of course. Classics, and modern muscle cars alike are expected to attend.

While the cars make the show, the Hurst Nationals is bringing in something special for the crowd…Or, should we say someone? In attendance will be two of the men that made Hurst what it is today, Don Glover and Jim Kerr.

Glover was a longtime Hurst engineer, he has been responsible for some of the brand’s most famous cars. Additionally, he also worked on the Jaws of Life design, and developed the “Hurst-equipped” emblem.

Kerr has been one of Hurst’s customer service gurus, and a sort of face to the company as one of Hurst’s “Shifty Doctors.” That meant that Kerr was the representative out in the field, repairing and advising on racer’s cars that used Hurst shifters.

Carlisle says that they are in talks with more legendary names and faces behind the Hurst to get them out to the event. It’s sure to be a cannot-miss event this summer. Tickets are available now.
