Thanks to some hefty boost from a Procharged LS7, this Z06 is one super potent 825-hp hotrod.

Builds often have an evolutionary cycle. This Z06 is no exception, starting life with a mildly upgraded LS7 and moving to a supercharged set up. Owner Chris Nardi, along with some help from his significant other, turned this Velocity Yellow Z06 into a brutish machine. The stock LS7 in the C6 Z06 is already a potent powerplant, but for Nardi, stock just wasn’t enough.

A set of heads from RPM were installed, plus the intake manifold and headers were upgraded as well. This gave Nardi a car that could easily trip the drag strip lights in the 10 second range. It wasn’t until installing the centrifugal supercharger that things really got serious.

A&A Corvette supplied the supercharger which sends 5.8 psi of extra boost to the Atomic AirForce MSD intake manifold. The headers are sourced from American Racing, and exit through a Corsa exhaust. The engine’s grunt is routed to the rear wheels through a McLeod twin disc set up, and finally reaches the ground through Weld wheels and bead-locked Mickey Thompson ET Street rubber. The level of grip is needed as the Corvette now puts out 825 horsepower. That’s an impressive number considering the rather modest boost levels.

Inside, keen eyed observers will notice things are mostly standard, save for the gauge pod and upgraded steering wheel. Subtle upgrades were made to the outside as well. A front splitter and rear spoiler were added, both items borrowed from the ZR1. The appearance of two tone is actually from a carbon fiber wrap used on the roof. In all the black accents contrast well with Velocity Yellow.

More and more we are seeing C6 Z06 builds like this one. The fact of the matter is, its a platform that is steadily taking over from the C5 as the bang-for-buck champion. We also like that it is a bit nicer to live with than the C5. Even Nardi himself describes the car as feeling completely normal. That is, until you really lean on it. He will lean on it soon enough. The Z06 was in the 10’s before adding the supercharger, so it’s safe to assume 9s are within easy reach.
