Yenko Gives Camaro A 1,500 Horsepower Supercharged Farewell

The Camaro is officially done, but Yenko isn’t done doing what they do best. Big power, and big speed.

One thousand and five hundred horsepower. With a 30,000 mile warranty. It is madness. And it is Yenko’s farewell gift to 100 eager 2024 Camaro SS 1LE owners. It comes on the heels of the announcement of the Camaro getting the slash from Chevrolet’s lineup. And while General Motors may have given up on the Camaro – again – Yenko hasn’t.

Stage 1 is 1,150 horsepower. Stage 2 ups the ante by another 50 ponies. those were only available from Yenko though last year. For 2024, Stage 3 doesn’t even acknowledge the prior stages. It adds an additional 350 bump to round out at 1,500 horsepower.

The basis of all of this madness is the SS 1LE. Then Yenko ditches that standard ho-hum motor and uses the 6.6 liter iron block plucked from the GM Performance parts catalog. That motor is then punched out to 7.0 liters (427 cubic inches) and given a whole host of rotating assembly upgrades. Pro forged I-beam rods hold the chaos together, and shove aluminum pistons against the back side of a CNC ported and polished LT-4 cylinder heads.

Dyno runs will reveal an incredible 1,500 horsepower. Now granted, you will need race fuel to achieve that number, but you’ll still probably come close when you fill up with 93 octane at your local fuel station.

The Yenko conversion is carried out by Specialty Vehicle Engineering, who makes the moves on behalf of the Yenko name. But because they have a close connection with GM, you get a warranty. Yup, 1,500 horsepower with a warranty. 3 years, and 36,000 miles in fact.

SVE’s work extends beyond the engine. Exterior upgrades for the Stage III include “1500” badges, and a body colored carbon fiber hood, with obligatory “sYc” logo front and center. And a high level rear wing, too. Badges in the interior and even the key fobs will have the build number on them, so you’ll know which one out of 100 is yours. Suspension and brakes are SS 1LE units, deemed by Yenko to be suitable for all that power. As they say; “have fun, don’t hurt yourself.” And that’s a great sign-off for the Camaro if you ask us.
