Default Anyone in the 12's with a street tire?

Just to get an idea, anyone here hit 12s without a slick or a drag radial? Id like to have a bolt on car that can hit 12's with an ordinary performance tires.

12'S W/ street tire's are no problem as long as you have enough bolt-on's and your street tire's are sticky. Some street tire suck for traction.

I couldn't manage better than a 13.2 @109 with a 2.2 60' on sumitomo's. And that was with the an M6 formula that put down 365rwhp and 373ftlbs. I was chasing down drag radial cars left and right at the end, I just couldn't get off the line with the Sumi's.

So in reality, what does it roughly take to break into the 12s anyway? I know the LS1 cars can do low 13s in stock trim (M6)

It will take a lid,LT,off road y-pipe,cat back,P&P TB,free mod's,underdrive pulley and good street tire's.My SS went a low 13.36 A4 in stock trim and then w/ a P& P TB and a Hypertech hand tuner went 12.87.

From the research I've done it only takes a lid, catback and LS6 intake to hit very high 12's. Mid 12's can be acheived with that plus long tubes, off-road y-pipe, and dyno tune. And then I've seen a few kinda low 12's like 12.3-12.4 with everything above and underdrive pulley, cut out, ram air of some kind like SSRA or FTRA, and 4.10 gears. I would contemplate that consistant low 12's would need DR's.

Hit a 12.9 @112 with a 2.1 60 foot. That was on stock wheels and stock 245 size tires. That was a couple of years ago, before my cam and other things, basically had just headers and true duals. I'm also a six speed with stock 3.42 gears. I had to baby it off the line, like leaving a stop sign, and still spun. True street tires have more grip on the street, than on the track.

Yeah i figured with the car already running low 13s stock, that it wouldnt take much to get her in the 12's. Id like to stay away from nitrous or tearing up into the motor at all.

It is definitely possible on street tires, it just isn't the easiest way to do it.

I can understand why too. Well, a ram air system either from fast toys or any other company is good for a tenth or so, then you have the typical bolt ons with that (catback, long tubes, lid and a tune) along with a DR, this set up, or a similar one can get you into the 12's no problems, correct?

Thats pretty impressive. However, mines a 99 with slightly less power. Did you do this run with the factory tires? The sig says almost stock so im assuming so? Nice run!

If you have a lid and a catback/new muffler with an M6 at sea level. You (theoretically) should be able to run 12.xx. If you can launch then you should be able to get away with a sticky street tire... I'm guessing as I have not done that personally(never got to a track without modding)

Easily. I'm .06 away from 12's as my car sits right now with 2.73 gears. I think with better weather I could have hit a 12.99. I hope to have some 3.73's by the next time I go to the track and would like to think I could gain atleast .2 from the gear swap.

No, not on street tire's .I run M/T ET Street Radial's on the street. I had a 98 Z-28 A4 W/a no cat's and a lid on bald nitto's and ran 13.1 @106 so it's not hard w/ a few mod's.

I plan on going with a 19inch rim so DR's are out of the question. However, I do have the option of getting the Nitto 555R's which I hear are supposed to have good traction?
