Project Budget 10 Second Camaro Thread
Is that right? Hmm, it's got the extended fenders, the wheels, and the spoiler, all of which GMMG put on the Dick Harrell edition car. Perhaps they are one and the same "Quietly GMMG, with the help of Berger Chevrolet, was able to squirrel away more than 30 brand new, unsold, untitled '02 Z28 and SS cars through the end of 2002 and early 2003."

I did a little research and the Dick Harrel Cars where actually made by Berger Chevrolet...
What threw me off was that It doesn't have Dick Harrel Stripes or badges, and it doesn't say "Mr. Chevrolet" across the spoiler...but It does have a Berger Panel and "By Berger" emblems on it tho...which turns out is actually standard on the DH/By Berger cars...

Picked up a 97 gauge cluster to go with the LS1 dash swap. Picked this up for $75 from seanaugustus on here...Thanks!
Turns out the 97 cluster is the only one you can use if you have a LT1. Also took the connector from the parts car at the junkyard when I pulled the dash. Just need to pull the old wires out and plug in my wires.

Also put my center console in the car and turns out it is charcoal and not black like the dash. Anyone know what the best interior dye is to match the dash color?

You basically have to rewire the cluster, its not a direct plug in and play mod. Hope to get this done this weekend and finish this up, kinda an unfinished project I started this past fall.

Yeah, I buffed it and it looks ok in the daylight, but when its night out and under the street lights you can tell its off, but I just started working part time at Maaco so Im going to be respraying the entire car anyways.
Really good read. I have been on layoff for a while with nothing better to do then see what other people are doing to there cars. Makes me anxious to get back to work so i can afford to get back to work on mine.
IM glad to see the spoiler worked out for you! It definately looks bad *** on the car but in my wifes opinion, she loves the SS spoiler. SO im glad you put it to good use!

Also to keep this a "budget" thread, I want to see what abuse a 10 bolt can take instead of dropping big money on a S60 or 9 inch. If anyone has a 10 bolt with a 3.73 or 4.10 gear locally or willing to meet or ship cheap, please contact me. I figure with the cars weight and auto trans, I MIGHT be able to make the 10 bolt survive!
BTW...to all the people who have sent me PMs. Ive been offline for a couple weeks and the messages have stacked up. I tried to answer all the questions. If I missed anyone, I am sorry and send me another PM.

Thanks for the comment wowsers!!!
Just did the spring detail on it and painted the rear spoiler as well as I retinted the taillights. I mixed some black paint in with clear, sprayed 3 coats, and then 2 of straight clear. Lets more light through this time and is still pretty black.
Picture taken at work of the Camaro. Sorry for the quality, I just had my phone on me at the time.

No "real" work on the car as of recently other than just been driving it and usual maintence. I did race a friends mid 11 second LS1 Camaro and was dead even with it, so Im kinding hoping this is true for the track, but I figure maybe its more like mid to low 12s and the difference cant really be seen on the street.
But back to the thread and doing a budget build. I did track down a TH350 that was used in a friends 570 rwhp 70 1/2 Camaro. It has a TCI 3800 stall with a nitrous plate as well. (which is nice since I do plan on spraying this year) Thing is though, he messed up the trans and needs new bands and everything inspected and convertor flushed. He wants $200 for the convertor and trans. Its a short tailshaft so I *may* need a new driveshaft. My other friend is doing the trans for $400 total and probably TCI will want around 150 to flush the convertor.
Also, still looking for a cheap, working 10 bolt with 3.73-4.10ish gear to see if I can get this car in the 10s on a cam-only motor (still need a cam though, gm847) a 150 shot, th350, and 4.10s on 275 tires...Hopefully have a time slip before the end of the year. I need your guys help if anyone has or knows of a good cam or rearend cheap.
