I had silverstars before I got the HID kid for the fogs....personally, I didn't like them, and they weren't really that much brighter than the stock ones....I can now almost drive with just my fogs on at night though, that's what a difference the 6K fogs did for my lighting...but as with all things, it's just a matter of preference and what you like....

Hey lemons! I don't think I ever had other lights in my fogs, so I'm not sure. I have HIDs in my fogs but my housings are starting to melt, but new housings might just fix that. I can tell you this though, in my last Camaro I had silverstar headlights, and those were bitchin'. Not HID quality, but very good. Pure white HIDs would give you best lighting in the HID section, but a true projector would be the best.

Anyway, if you do the math, 2100 lumen is about 56% brighter than 1350 lumen. Technically, that is a lot less than the +90% that Osram advertises. The Philips Xtreme Power +80% is just as guilty with its advertising. Bulb manufacturers like to compare their new brighter bulb to an old used bulb to get their big marketing numbers (read the back of the package of a Sylvania SilverStar bulb.... it says exactly that... they compared a new bulb to a 70% used bulb.... of course the new bulb is going to be brighter).
OK, I'm rambling. Anyway, the H9 (and the NightBreaker H7) at 2100 lumen are the brightest stock-wattage bulbs you can buy. Other than that, you have to go with higher wattage bulbs.

My EuroLamps aren't melting, my fog light housings are. The HID is too strong for the bowl of the housing and a piece of it actually fell in. LED's run cooler than halogen's, if that's what your thinking of.
Idk if I should just get new housings, or if it'll just melt again in a month. Could this start a fire in some way?

Yeah this is the only thing keeping from doing the swap.
VIP - What did you do for your fogs? I just don't want to do my headlights and still have my fogs look yellow and not as bright in comparison.

The only issue is that the resulting beam pattern is closer to a driving light than a fog light (conical beam vs. low and wide).
I installed them before my projector headlight upgrade and before I learned more about lighting in general.

Osram NightBreaker are in that same league too. They are advertised as +90%. The NightBreaker H7 has 2100 Lumen output compared to the normal H7's 1350 lumen. Basically they put a H9 capsule on a H7 base, which means the NightBreaker H7 consumes 65watt (since the H9 is a 65watt bulb) which is 10watt more than the standard H7 which is 55watt.

I've been trying to keep my fog lights off every time i get out of the car. however, since the installation i've had a new problem. every 3 or 4 times i turn the fog lights on (or hit the unlock button on the key fob when the fogs were accidentally left on), my headlights will pop up. the headlights don't turn on, they just pop up. i don't know if its due to the HID kit. I don't see how it could be. but it didn't start doing it till after i installed it. sooo, I don't know.
I'm sure the quick ON/OFF which happens when locking the doors isn't good for the HIDs, but its not really that quick of a flash.
