Cool Sonar headlights are in!

Well I like the look and I think I am FINALLY done swapping headlights every few months. I ordered the Sonar projectors and some new black backed turn signals as well. Once they arrived I promptly did what I know best when it comes to paint and body and dropped them off to a guy that does paint and body as well as a set of LT1 tails. Well everything is back and has a nice subtle level of tint on it. Here is what the headlights look like head on. I will get whatever type of shot anyone would like, to include tails, turns or headlights, just ask. I did NOT hook up the LEDs on the side or the halo rings. Stock H1 bulbs that came with the kit are in there and the 4500K HIDs should arrive a little later this week. Tell me what you think!

You Camaro guys are just lucky you have so many options to choose from in projector headlights! Somebody sure would make a killing if they designed some for Firebirds that didn't cost a grand or more.

Your car looks downright angry... very nice job!

Yes, the whole car is going black and the grille will be replaced at that time. I had an SS grille years ago but am up in the air about doing that again or going with the bow tie. The car IS filthy right now as well, we had some weird desert wind/rain things a few days ago and I have yet to clean it up.

OK, so to answer questions I have gotten, I got these through eBay and the seller was RACER UNION. Hope that helps anyone that is interested, and keep in mind that they are tinted at about 20%.

How much does the tint affect light output?

They look like a stock halogen right now so with the 4500K I think they will look about as good as yours did with the H1s that come with the set. I was just trying to keep the stealth look I had going and also obscure the ricey side LED feel. I was not impressed by shots I had seen of the ring during the day and figured with the tint it would've been a moot point.

We never used to have these options.

They look very nice - probably even sweeter on a black car.

I just wish they had made these without the halos and LEDs, that would be best. I am trying to work out the look prior to the paint, so I know it probably looks a bit off with the black and red theme going on. A black 'Berger' panel would really set it off right now the way it looks, but spending money on something I will just have repainted isn't my idea of a good time.

You can buy black backed halos and then just get them tinted. It is simply clear coat mixed with black at about 20% tint. You can hook the rings up directly to the DRLs if you want or even tie them into the fogs as well.

A quick question. Why would you tint the headlights? Isn't the point of replacing the headlights to get more light on the road at night and not less? I guess if you're just going for the appearance aspect it's ok, but not if you're looking for them to perform better than stock.

Purely my vanity. Plus I think it will look killer with the car going black and the gunmetal grey rims as well. Besides with the HIDs in there now they project way better than stock and perhaps even better than the H1s that came in stock projectors.

fitment is great, no spacers needed with mine for the gap issue.
