Default How to Strip Wheel Clearcoat & Paint (Aircraft Stripper?)

Hey guys,

Question.. What do you guys use to strip the clear off of your wheels? I've heard about aircraft stripper, but what kind? I remember there was something about this Lanes Acid stuff too, but I can't find it, or the thread.

I also just read that people use Permatex Gasket Remover for the same purpose, and that it works even better than aircraft stripper. Where do you all get this stuff?

Also, I think I'm gonna try painting my wheels. Now, lets say, I paint the wheels and I throw them on the car. After a day or so, I don't like them. It's still possible to strip everything back off right? I know it'd probably be a pain in the *** but I would imagine that the paint wouldn't have settled in yet.

I'm so confused as to what i should do with my wheels, it's ridiculous.

Zip strip semi paste remover would more than likely take offeverything, but depending on what the wheels are made of be careful of pitting.

It'd be my chrome WS6 wheels. I just wanna either 1. strip off the clearcoat and polish them or 2. use them to take the paint off the lip after I paint.

What do you guys think about this:

I've used Eastwood Dekote on a set of wheels to strip the clear, worked great.

I think it would look good but are you wanting to take the chrome itself off?
