Detailed the Camaro last week. All out with clay, rotary using meguiars #83 on yellow pad then 3m finesse it II on a black pad, and 1 coat of Zaino Z2. Well today I did a quick wash and put a couple more coats on it. It gets better and better the more coats of Zaino you put on. Here are a few pics.

With paint sealants the usual method is to apply like a wax, let dry for an hour or more (depending on weather), then you have to let it cure for 24 hours before another coat can be added. This also used to be the way for Zaino, but they have since developed the ZFX additive. Simply, it's a curing additive that cuts the curing time for the sealant WAY DOWN. Basically, put the Zaino on, let it dry 30 minutes to an hour, then buff off. Because of the ZFX it's already cured enough to allow for another coat. Zaino recommends no more than three coats in a 24 hour period.
Zaino doesn't do a whole lot to lighter colored cars than it does to black or darker cars. Yes it gets a really nice shine, but the depth won't be there like on a black car. Here's a black supra I did last week, look at the depth from just one coat! (last two pics)

Why Finesse It II and a black pad ??? I guess on silver you won't see swirls too badly but I'd have finished it off with 3M's blue pad glaze and a black pad....Finesse It is pretty strong stuff to be using with a black foam pad IMO

finesse it ii seemed to be less aggressive gthan the 83 I was using. It's just what turned out the best with what I had at the time. I have since bought some more pads and meguiars 80 and 3 in preparation for doing this as a side job.
The wheels are actually powder coated by me. It's called bonded black chrome from powder buy the pound.

The bare bones of what you would need is z2 or z5 and the zfx system. Their detailed spray is nice too but not required. Rule of thumb is z2 for lighter cars and z5 for darker cars, the idea being that the z5 will help make the darker cars look deeper. Go to www.zainostore.com for ordering. I think it'll run you $40-50 with shipping. Not cheap, but it's not a wax either and will last a long time.
