Well the quest continues.. Sorry for all the posts on this but given the cost of the mod I want to make sure i research it enough..
Eric (Ireland31) was nice enough to let me mount up his 18" HRE 545's on the car to get a real idea of how they would like.. Now I love the Z06 rims but the HRE changed the whole look of the car!.. so here they are:

And a close up with the Wilwoods:

The other style im seriously considering is the 541.. its an HRE version of the Z06 and is like jewlery Take a look here:
http://corvetteforum.com/openimage.p...z.jpg&loaded=1
And ive heard of some new offerings from HRE but ive been unable to get any pics yet..
Thanks for the opinions..

NO NO NO Steve!
You need the new HRE 841R rims for you car. They 3 piece wheels with hidden hardware. No broken up lines by tough to clean rivets.
http://www.wheelkinetics.com/html/hre/
You can see the new styles there. THOSE are the wheels for your ride.

while those wheels certainly dont look bad, i think the z06's look better. however, i also like the fikse's better than these as well. photoshop (if you like them) some HRE 542's on the car. ive always been partial to them.

Steve,
Even though the Z06's are not unique I still think they compliment your vehicle greatly. I imagine this must be eating at you as the cost is too high to make the wrong decision. Many ppl on this board and others highly regard and admire the choices you've made so I'm sure whatever you choose to do will look great.
Its good to see that ppl out there are willing to temporarily swap wheels to help you make your decision.
Good luck !

Steve, those HRE's are really nice, but not for your car. I think those Z06s for some reason on a Pewter SS represents the car as good as anything (if not better) available. I have yet to see, with exception of my own personal wheel choice on my car , a better looking set of wheels on ANY SS! If you're gonna blow that cash, why not throw some heads and cam in that thing?

Honestly Steve your car is 1 of the best looking f-bods around, I wouldn't change a thing, but if you must and don't mind spending the insane price, I would say go with the 541's, if not then keep your Z06's.....If you really don't want the Z06' thn you could send them to me

I have been following your posts but I can't make up my mind they all look good.
It is just strange seeing your car with different rims lol.
It is the second biggest exterior mod next to a paint job. Change always keeps things interesting.
Lots of nice folks helping you out you have to like that. Decisions, decisions.
Lots of help I am .
Good luck!

I think both rims look really nice. The HRE's look a little more exotic to me than the Z06's. I think at this point you are splitting hairs (I mean that in a good way).

I think those wheels look great, but then again, I think any wheels would look great on your car. I think you should definately look into the new series of HRE wheels. They are awesome

LOL the $4300 or so I have budgeted is already at the max i would be mentally willing to spend on wheels..
The R series looks to be $200 more PER WHEEL than the regular HRE stuff.. $800 is the new 220 TR cam and im not giving up getting that on this current GP..
So its most likely between the 545 and 541.. so lets focus

Steve, when I saw those wheels today I about lost it! They're outrageous! The 545's look way better than the 541 IMHO.

Steve, I agree with everyone else. I think the Z06 wheels compliment your car perfectly. I never thought I'd say this about HREs, but they really don't look right on your car. If you do decide to get some, get the ten spokes like you have now!

I think the car looks awesome as it is.
I wouldnt waste the cash on the HRE's, I think the Z-06 rims suit your car a lot better and almost make it look like a "special" GM vehicle.
I definitely wouldnt change out the Z-06 rims. For the cost you could do something ridiculous to your motor
Cheers,
Chris

Those rims are not exactly flattering to your car.
The rims look big and chunky, making the car look
ponderous. And the price just makes them worse.
My honest opinion, go with something in a thin
spoke. Have you tried normal 2k C5 wheels on
your car? Would definatly show off the wilwoods
better than anything else.

I'll step out and vote for the HRE's. I agree with everybody else as far as teh Z06's go, but I think we all like them on your car because that is what we are used to, might be time for a change. Good luck in your choosing.

Steve
I was the first to recommend the HRE 545's on your other post. Although they are awesome wheels, I'm sorry I mentioned them. They do not look good on your car. PendragonZ is right. I think the spokes aren't thin enough. The Y2K C5 chrome wheels might look nice.
My overall opinion is that you should keep your Z06 rims and either save the money or put it towards other mods. The 545's just don't look right.
BTW: the new HRE 845R's look amazing. WAY too overpriced though.

They are both very nice.I like chrome so either one looks good.
Maybe put the $$ on a different mod.
