Default Anyone smooth a Z/28 grill and paint it bodycolor or black?

Now that the front clip is painted, kinda turning my attention to making the front clip look nice. I have the grill that says CAMARO across it but it has a couple holes in it from the license plate holder. I was thinking of filling the holes and smoothing the texture out and painting black. Just wondering if this would look good or just be too much. Maybe also painting the "CAMARO" lettering white or silver?

Pics if anyones done this.

the original plastic grill insert?

if so, Ls1CamaroGuy87 has done so: http://www.fquick.com/garages/viewga...d=1&carid=5814

looks great when done right. body matched/painted stripes/emblempros letter fill-ins

Like what Crimson said it looks good... when done right. If not then it looks horrible.

here is some old pics of my car with the painted grill with ss inserts.
instead of smothing out the plastic it self just use a few coats of high build primer then sand it down thats what i did then after gloss black paint with a few coats of clear i gave it a wet sand with 2k paper then a polish and its done.

^ That dosen't look bad either since you have the "Camaro" inserts to match the rear. If you didn't have the inserts I don't think it would look as good though.

^the front letters are so small it'd probably be pointless, its already a small section on the rear letters.

Instead of going through all the trouble of sanding and painting the stock insert, I just went with the RKSport grill insert:

^exactly. if you smooth them out and repaint the bumper its a nice option, but with the holes there it looks pretty bad, really unfinished, which is why i bought the SLP grill.

^ Yall are correct lol. But to help my situation out, when mine goes to paint at the end of this year/start of next year, imma have my section painted black with the holes filled in and install a billet grill to give it a more complete look IMHO.

Not the greatest pics because I took them during winter, but I color matched (NBM) mine and it looks great. I didn't fill anything, but I have been meaning to get some Silver inserts.

here are some body color grill pics and the last pic is the grill i have now its a ebay black billet grill with a 69 camaro emblem.
paint your stock grill and if you dont like it oh well it will only cost 15-20 bucks for the supplys and some of your time.
