Default Anyone tried Shoe Polish on Leather Seats?

Just wondering, came upon what seems like a great way to restore leather seats on the internet. Basically just buy some kind of shoe polisher with the brush applicant, put it on your seats and whipe off immediately. Says to wait a day before sitting in the seats. Im going to try it today on my camar and take some before and after pictures, just wondering if anyone has ever tried it and any advice.

I 'd think it works since your leather shoes have more leather in em than stock fbody seats.

I suggest to try it on lower back part of the seat so its not visible in case it does do any damage.

Yes I have. I actually use stuff that was designed for horse saddles and cowboy shoes. It smells like **** for a day, but it makes the leather SUPER soft.

I wouldn't use shoe POLISH. Polish your shoes and then rub em hard on a t-shirt of pair of jeans and it leaves a dark smear. I'd be pissed if my seats started ruining my clothes. Instead I recommend getting a bottle of leather dye with the sponge applicator. Once it's dry, rub it hard over with a dry terry towel to get any residue off.

From what I understand you rub the seat with it, then whipe the excess off and let it sit overnight, after that its supposed to be dry and not come off on any of you're clothes

Like I said, try that with a shoe. As a Marine I know for a fact that even weeks after a good polishing, the black will smear on cloth if rubbed hard. I ruined a tan uniform shirt by mistakenly putting my polished "inspection boots" in the clothing bag.

This is the stuff I use, it's clear and doesn't rub off.

http://www.amazon.com/Effax-Leather-.../dp/B000QH1GC8

It's expensive, but it lasts a long time and does a pretty epic job.

It will make it have more of a sheen, if it's cracked it's not going to do much for that. If you get it, use a white paper towel with it. It's amazing how much dirt comes off when you wipe it.

Well this happened to be the second time in 2 weeks that I've heard someone try to say to use shoe polish on seats! I welcome anyone to try it, but be prepared to buy a new shirt/pants. Leather dye/shoe dye is what you should use.
