Go with the vht night shade. scuff with 600 grit, spray night shade to prefered darkness, dry overnight, wetsand with 1000 grit, then wetsand with 2000 grit. buff with adams polished swirl haze remover (or equivilant), then wax. doing this will make it look like smooth factory quality. Using Black out covers will eventually start melting/ warping your tail light lense due to heat build up. especially if its a daily driver/ night driving. been throught that already.

Previous owner did 3 coats of VHT then 3 coats of clear. Wetsand and buff. I had the thought of putting these on here for trade for stock ones, but I didn't. I wetsanded them 2 weeks ago back to stock. I felt like it was just too much black, and I was worried about my inspection being due for the first time owning it.

i've tinted a couple of lights here and there and this method always works best for me
1) rubbing alcohol to clean the light
2) 100 grit sandpaper wet sand (i use dishwashing soap and water) to get the clear coat off the lens
3) clean with rubbing alcohol...u'll notice the lights starting to look shiny again...u gotta get allt he rubbing alcohol off...till they look dull again
4) 2-4 coats of vht depending on how dark u wanna go
5) 2-3 light coats of clear coat
6) wet sand again real soft not too much pressure just getting them smooth...
7) then polish and buff

I bit of advise if you plan to follow that first Tut, I don't recommend waiting for the paint to dry completely in between coats. If you're going to sand them, then yes, they need to be 100% dry before sanding. But when you're going from the Tint to the Clear you want the light 'tacky' but not completely dry. 5-10 minutes of flash time should be enough. If you let it dry 100%, then apply another coat of ANYTHING you run the risk of the two coats not biting into each other and they can peel later.
