can anyone recommend a quick wax? We have a daily driver that just needs a little bit of TLC every now and then. I know I should do a full wax every few months but I really can't find the time. I have a pc and do a full detail every spring but what can we do the rest of the year to maintain the wax?

something like this perhaps? Meguiar's G17516 Ultimate Quik Wax

Thanks.

I'd recommend Optimum Car Wax. Sprays on easily and will give you about 4 weeks protection.

Best way is to wetsand 1500 then 3000 grit on the PC with 3M Trizac discs (3") then compound out with a rotary and wool pad with M105. You can do it with the PC though, but rotary is easier for headlights. After compounding, polish with M205 and then seal the headlight with something like Cquartz or Opti-Coat to prevent future fading.

one thing i didn't notice anybody asking.. is there a minimum temperature that you would not do any of this in? being that it's december, i just get bored haha.

thank you for putting in all the time you have.. i think i'm speaking for everybody when i say we are incredibly grateful.
Thank you! Nice to know the time/effort is appreciated.

As for temperature, it depends on the products. All will be different. But typically, the colder, the more difficult or less effective they will be. Moisture in the air when the temp drops is the biggest issue IMO. I don't correct paint below 45* and will not wax/seal below 50*.

I use Blackfire on my SS but I don't like how hard it is to remove it. Maybe I just didn't let it dry long enough last time. Once that bottle is used up I'm going to stick with Wizards- its durable, cheap ($15), makes the paint very slick and a little shinier, comes off very easy, and smells good .
Blackfire is one of the EASIEST sealant to apply and remove. You should not be having any trouble removing it. What is your application method and how much are you using? How long are you shaking it before applying (less than 60 sec won't cut it).

@ 70 deg (except in high humidity), you should be able to remove it as soon as you've finished applying it to the whole car. Just go back to the start and begin removing it.

Blackfire Wet Diamond is a sealant, not a wax. They have a separate wax called Midnight Sun. But yes, BFWD is all you need.

I usually remove it after finishing applying it to the whole car, but thats CA temps/humidity.... Play around with it, note the temp, take some off at different times and see what works and what doesn't. You can let it cure for 24 hours if you like too.

Thanks!

I read that on another forum and that's what I sort of had my mind set on picking up. Suggest a good place to get it?

btw... my co-worker uses your services. Says nothing but great things about you. Her name is Michelle and she drives a 'vet.

I wanted to have your thoughts on this order. I wanted to try a few products I keep reading about. Would these pads be fine and are these what I should get? And by any chance do you know if the Adams backing plate will work with these pads? Also whats your thoughts on tire dressings?

So I am thinking m105 to m205 to blackfire to get all swirls out and use Menzerna SIP and BW if needed for minor swirls later down the road? Should I add anything or change product order?

GoFast- Ever bought microfibers from pakshak? I'm debating giving them a try, autogeeks cobra microfibers are pretty pricey and I've heard pakshak offers similar quality at better prices.

Pakshak MF's are decent.

I personally like Chemical Guys selection and LOVE their Red Fluffer Micracle Supra MF's. They are super plush and silk banded. They work well on one side for waterless washing and then the short nap side to remove wax or compound.

Bummer. Was really hoping they'd be of similar quality to cobras. I'd rather buy more polishes/waxes/sealants than invest more into microfibers. I'll have to check out the Chemical Guys selection.

EDIT: Are the red fluffer towels fairly versitile? What process do you use them for? I'm looking for a good polish removing towel, ipa wipedown towel, and wax removal towel. Looks like chemical guys have a 1 day deal on these!!!

Looks like a good order! A couple thoughts:

*Swap the CCS 6-pack pads for the 6-pack flat pads

*Swap the 16oz M105/205 for 32oz (I'm more scared of running out of M105 than I am running out of toilet paper!)

For correction, I think M105 followed by SIP will beat M105/205 hands down. Both in corrective ability and gloss. But give both a try and find what works best for you.

Couple things to keep in mind, SIP has a LONG working time (this is a desirable thing) and M205 works best if worked for around 30 sec (2'x2' area max). SIP can be (and should) be worked for 1 minute or longer.

And if you need a coupon code: "corvetteforum" will get you 10% off.

They are versitile.

The long nap side can (and I just recently did this on a 911 Turbo) be used as a wash medium for No rinse washes to help aid pulling the dirt away from the paint and carry it away. The short nap side I use to remove polish, compound, wax, & even can be used for cleaning windows at times (but I do have dedicated MF window towels).

Also, check their "wacky1 day sale" tab. They stay on their for a while until they run out or whatever.

Their Diablo Wheel gel is amazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing and that stuff smells so great i want to drink it. lol I use it at 5:1 and haven't had to go up or down with the dilution ratio as far as cleaning ability.

I'm not sure what you mean about it looking gray...don't know the original color either? If sap has sat on the paint for an extended period it'll likely require wetsanding and sometimes repainting.

ill get some pics tonight to show you what im talking about

Yeah they're ok. I'm thinking of switching over to Detailing.com MFs, They are super nice. Not cheap, but worth it.
