Ok thanks. I think I'll stick with my Zaino.

Also, I need some info on compounding. Not every car needs to be compounded right? If not, how can I determine if mine needs it?

Im doing a full detail on the car soon. Im going to use Mezerna SIP. Id just like to know what to do before that, aside from the typical washes, clay, ect.

Sorry if this has already been covered, 81 pages is a lot to read through.

Just because it's a process you don't use, or maybe aren't familiar with, doesn't make it the wrong way.

After claying, if the car isn't being compounded or polished do you still do an IPA wipedown? It seems like clay lube leaves residue on the paint that would effect bonding of the sealant.

Jeff -

Wetsanding key scratches out of vertical panels...

Friend with a 2012 Subaru Legacy has two key scratches (on of them finger nail catches, the other it barely catches). I don't want to wetsand them if I don't have to, but I have a feeling it will definitely be needed. I have on hand some meguiars 2000, 2500, and 3000 unigrit sand paper. Is it safe to start with 2000 and work my way up to 3000 then compound with some M105? The car has a metallic paint so I'm not sure if I'd be better off grabbing some touch up paint and filling the scratches, letting them cure, then wetsand afterwards. I can probably get pictures if needed.

Try and carefully fill it in. The wetsanding may remove the fresh touchup but worth a try.... Give it a shot

Great deal and a fantastic unit.
It is on sale now for $89.99 with free shipping. I just ordered one.

The site says 5%, but my order went through without any surcharge being added. I did have to pay sales tax because they have stores in Ohio.

Subtotal: $89.99
Tax: $6.30
Shipping: $0.00
------------
Instant Savings: ($0.00)
Non-Member Surcharge (0%): $0.00
Total $96.29

GoFast I saw your post recommending the Lake flat pads and wondered why you like them over the CCS and Kompressor pads.

They load up with product moreso than the flat pads. I don't like the Kompressors except for applying sealant with a red or gold one via the DA.

Better working time with flat pads for me.

i have one as well... i was talking to a local detail guy and he said that after he washes a car, rinses it off and leaves it wet, gets new soapy water and uses the soapy water to claybar the car...he says it saves time... have you heard of this and will it work about the same as using the spray..

Well I couldnt find Tarminator at only store locally, tried Advanced Auto and Pep Boys. Jeff, if it is clear coat damage which I think it is, repaints the only option I assume? Is it typical for wax to mask this? I really never noticed it to the severity until after I did a dawn wash. Its almost like I burned through the paint with a rotary when Im only using a Griots 6"..

You don't want the soap and water to dry on your paint, so I wouldn't recommend it. Buy a claybar kit that comes with the detail spray.

i do cvlay bar with spray, he just says it saves time, he puts soapy water on a panel and clays the panel adding water when needed, and when he is done with the panel he rinses it off then moves to the next, doesnt leave it to dry
