Default Revamped my Engine Bay

Been a little busy lately getting the engine bay cleaned up. Started when I got a huge roll of 3M scotchprint 1080 vinyl (carbon fiber) and had WAAAAYYY more than I needed (I still have a lot left). So I started wrapping a few things here and there, and the project just kept rolling. Only thing left to do is pull the intake when I get an ls6.

Unfortunately, while painting the fenders (last thing I did) I accidentally got some over spray on my wrapped lid and driver's side FRC... both will need to be rewrapped

What's been done:

-passenger and drivers side wire tuck
-relocated grounds
-all holes welded/ smoothed

Repainted (Dupli-color spray paint: "GM Bright Red")
-fender wells
-oil dipstick, trans/lock dipstick, and positive ground cap

Repainted (Rustoleum: Hammered Gray)
-air filter box base

Repainted (Gloss Black):
-brackets/supports
-powers steering reservoir
-battery tray and coolant reservoir
-fuse box tray and lids
-windshield cleaner reservoir
-back of headlights

Carbon Wrapped:
-SLP Lid
-Corvette Fuel Rail Covers (FRC's), smoothed first
-Emblempros battery cover
-readiator/ core support (the thing the air box sits on)
-SpecializedStainless PCM cover and Brake Fluid Reservoir cover
-top of power steering resevoir

Graphics
-battery cover and SLP lid: thanks to board member jlincks, who made these for me, as well as a LOT of other little things I've needed over the past couple years. Excellent works as always!
-FRC's: ebay decal kit, seller thumperzecalz. I used the trans am logos for the doors, and the pillar birds provided http://www.ebay.com/itm/261079026509...84.m1497.l2649
-fuse box cover decals: www.HawksThirdGenParts.com, their ebay store. user name camarohawk. http://www.ebay.com/itm/380452051137...84.m1497.l2649

Misc
-BMR STB strut tower brace (Hammertone color)
-Pontiac LS1 oil cap
-emblem pros cap set http://emblempros.com/inc/sdetail/1246/598
-polished AC accumulator
-rewrapped fuel lines in electrical tape

Mothers Back-to-Black
-hoses, loom, and other black accessories
-windshield wiper cowl plastic

And of course a good cleaning!!

The car has a few more changes to be done and then I'll be posting more pics shortly. Targa will be done this week, just need to finish the latches (not the full conversion, just the top itself to replace the t-tops), the splitter will be back on, and wider wheels put on the back.. then a shoot!

one shot I took while out

Nice & clean, ...,
But the airlid-base sticks out like a sore thumb.
Wrap it, or go black like the rest.

Looks awesome, you really went above and beyond on that bay. Little feedback

1. Gotta lose AIR/EGR, that will clean up that engine some more.
2. That silver/grey lower air box sticks out to much, Id go black or wrap it like the rest.

Not overboard on it all.
How much of a pain in the *** was it with the motor in it doing the touch up painting?

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Feels good to finally be done for the most part.

I thought about that, but I don't want too much black, and I like the touch of gray just to break things up a bit, and it also place your focus on the lid. As for wrapping it, Im already a bit over my personal level of "too much" wrapped stuff. I think I'd push it way over the edge if I wrapped that too. But I may try to pick up another base to try out the gloss black look at some point in time.

1: yeah I know. Gonna just wait till I swap to an ls6 intake.

It was kind of an ongoing project off and on for like the past month or two. But if I were to have just knocked it all out at once, I'd say several days. None of it was hard, just time consuming. The main things that took long were wrapping all of the parts and dealing with the fender wells (getting the welding work done, doing the body work to get everything perfectly smooth, masking everything, painting...) but it was worth the work!

A huge one. When I get a chance to I'll post up some of the pics I took on my phone during the process. I had to mask off EVERYTHING and I still had a couple issues come up with overspray, luckily most of it was on areas I could hit with a rag and some goof off and be fine, but for the painted/wrapped lid and frc I messed up, I can't clean them with that stuff since it'll ruin the paint job and the vinyl. And I told myself to remove them first

But yeah, there was a lot of masking done and a lot of stuff removed, or at least unbolted so I could set aside. One of the biggest issues was getting the paint around the AC accumulator but I was able to get into all the nooks and crannies eventually. I used a total of 5 cans of the dupli color paint, and LOTS of blue masking tape, newspaper, and with the genius suggestion from bestlude, lots of foil used. The foil was great for wrapping certain items that would have been much harder with the newspaper and the foil takes up less space as it forms perfectly around whatever you're wrapping.

I'm on my phone right now so I may have some syntax/spelling errors in there lol. No grammar ***** please. I'll post up some of the other in-process pics later
