Default opinions on carpet

My carpet is pretty ratty and stained. I want to replace it, but not sure what color I want to go with. I'm leaning towards black, but I may go back with the beige color. Opinions?

What do you think would look best?

Also, the hvac controls on the car have the grey ***** and the pointer doesn't light up. I looked at the controls on my camaro and the ***** have a clear path for light to let you see the indicator. Problem is that it lights up blue... Do the 99-02 Birds have light up *****? Can you find them in black? Trying to get rid of all the grey in the interior.

Pics of the interior. work in progress.

black carpet, or go back with same color? or maybe a lighter beige?

ive been saying this in the last few threads that have popped up with beige interiors.

I think having black carpet would really make the beige panels pop.

The ***** are interchangeable between Pontiac and Chevy interiors. The ***** themselves light up with a slightly bluefish tint, but you really could not tell when I had the pontiac HVAC. Find a local Camaro friend and do a quick swap to see if you like it. You can also get the defroster from a Camaro HVAC so you can have a black button there as well. I also vote for black carpet, it will make everything pop that much more. I usually hate the tan interiors, but with the dash and the clean work you've done it looks amazing.

Did you paint the dash/doors/console? That isn't stock. Looks good, except for the gauge binnacle, I think that would look better matched to the beige dash.

About the carpet, I'm not sure if beige or black would look better. I'm leaning towards maybe black.

That's really what I'm thinking also.

I have a camaro and the ***** don't fit on the firebird hvac panel. they've got a clear plastic ring that sits recessed into the camaro light panel. the firebird doesn't have a provision for that, but mine is a 94 and I'm wondering if the newer firebird hvac panel is different. I may just modify the camaro one using the firebird overlay.

I thought the same thing about the gauge binnacle, I actually already removed it and changed the color. I like it much better now. It's all done with SEM color coat, and plenty of cleaning....LOTS of prep work.

really think I'm going to go with black carpet, then get a nice beige mat with the bird on it for the hatch area, should look sweet.

Need to clean up the area around the vent. Still need to do the driver's side door panel. Trying to find a match for the passenger door panel. It's been hard to locate one.

So it looks like black is the clear winner here. I think it will look sharp. I'll post some pics when it's done.

I am a good two years late for the discussion but I do want to say I LOVE the interior! Changing the gauge bezel to beige completes the look of your interior. Did you do this yourself or did you have a shop do it? Also, if you don't mind, how much did this cost? In the future I want to completely refurbish my Trans Am and modify the exterior and interior. The beige mixed with ebony black is just the new kind of look I am interested in going for.

I would want the dash pad to be beige as well, however I am not sure how this would look or how to play it off to look well with ebony black contrast. Maybe ebony black pillars with the beige dash pad and dash panel.

Oh! As far as the HVAC panel *****, I was able to switch my original ***** over to the better ergonomic Camaro *****, they fit my HVAC spindles, even with that slight recession and difference, they fit! Maybe the '94 Camaro ***** are different from whatever I am using.

Im just dead curious, did this car come without rear cup holders?
I really like your interior. Just curious what about charcoal or grey carpet to match the charcoal / grey interior panels?

The 1993, 1994 and 1995 Firebirds definitely had different center consoles than the 1996-2002 Firebirds.
