Wow, it's been a while since I've seen this thread. Neither of those pics with the LCD's in the dash are my car. I did buy a 10.4" LCD that physically fit, but the viewing angles were no good at all. I've sold it and will be trying another model. Hopefully it will have a better viewing angle.

I also figured out how to extend the cable setup on the climate controls. Now I can move them to the center console or where ever. https://ls1tech.com/forums/wiring-stereo-electronics/597622-how-relocate-climate-controls-97-02-a.html

I've kind of moved the headlights onto the back burner again. (Sorry guys)

I did get a new hood which I'm making a few mods to. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...0&page=5&pp=20

I'm also converting over to a wood steering wheel with the buttons wired to a radio frequency style remote for direct access to my PC.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearance-detailing/620307-anyone-seen-wood-grain-steering-wheel.html

And if your wondering why I'm adding a wood grain steering wheel, it's because I'm redoing my sound system with a wood grain theme.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...=585731&page=5

So I've been busy.

Keepin busy as always I see. Well when you finally come back to this project, may want to take this design in to consideration.

If you could replicate that setup, I'd throw a party. lol

I already commented on those in post 97.
Basically I don't like them. They look OK, but I plan to do a lot of things differently and hopefully have a superior headlight unit. My standards are high. I won't stand for dust or condensation in my lights at all and I want HID high beams as well. My fit and finish will also be better.

I'm still glad he built them, though. It's always good for people to be creative and do things.

So I was thinking, if I make a set of fixed lights I could make a clear cover and keep them exposed all the time OR I could make a painted cover and have it hinged in the rear and only the front pop open 3" or so. It would look completely stock during the day.

Just a note to myself.

honestly what i think would look good is to remove the cover and put a nice fiberglass housing around the fixed lights that is painted the same as your car. I think that would look great.

Just spreading the word as I just found out about these. HELP (motormite, Dorman) makes a replacement plastic headlight gear for about 15 bucks. Autozone can order them, but it may take a few days to get them in. Part # 42400.

Did I post any of his pics in this thread? I can't remember. I believe I rehosted several of his pics in his LS2.com thread. Did you see that one? Go to the last page.

If you have all those pics, then let me know. I'll look to see if there is more.

After looking, I posted one more pic, but that's all I have. I think you should be able to figure out the rest. It doesn't look too hard. There's also lots of retrofit websites out there where people added projectors to cars, that did not have them. You can learn a lot from those installs as well.

I'm working on the one VVS6 did, and something I kinda was working on for the LT1 trans am. The one I had going for my LT1 should work on the LS1 car too. Just might have to modify it a little bit more. Had my uncle take one of the projectors and he fabbed up a sheet metal box that the E46 projectors fit right into. I just need to make a bezel for the projectors and find a way to seal them up nice and tight. Once I'm done with both I'm gonna put them through the hose test and see which one stays sealed up the best. I'm more concerned about rain and weather than anything else since it can rain without warning in florida

I love those special SLP Firehawks! If I could do the conversion on my car I would, but Extending the hood would probably be expensive not to mention the actual headlight housings. I think there were only five of those Firehawks made and one was totaled in a crash.

The hood was only extended for cosmetic reasons. It wasn't really needed.

You don't want them sealed. Didn't you see the part of this thread concerning all the factory type vents? No factory headlights are sealed, they are all vented.

Just build it sealed and then drill a hole in the side near the top and mount a factory type vent. There are some rubber ones that bend down at a 90* angle and even have a small piece of charcoal filter in it to keep out dust.

I can take a pic of one if you want to see what it looks like.
