Question Lets see if anyone can solve my mystery!

I just bought a 2001 Ws6 a couple months ago. When I got the car I noticed that it had a badge on the sides of the front fenders that said "Pontiac 75th Anniversary". When I bought the car I wasn't told anything about it being a anniversary package. So i've been searching online and so far, I have found nothing about a Trans Am WS6 being a 75th Anniversary packaged vehicle. I've read that this package only came with the Formulas....wtf?

If anyone can lend me a hand with some more info, that'd be sweet.

Thanks!
Haans

I am not sure about an anniversary package issued by Pontiac. But it may be a dealer installed package celebrating the anniversary of Pontiac, which was created in 1926.
For example Pontiac did make a 50th anniversary trans am in 1976, yes 50th anniversary to celebrate the creation of pontiac. It had the decals and all.
1969 was the first year of the trans am so in itself it is not an anniversary model. Pontiac then made anniversary trans am to celebrate the anniversary of the trans am in 1979,84,89,94 and 99.

are you sure it wasnt 35th anniversary, b/c there is no such thing as 75th anniversary edition. its kinda like the WS9 badges no such car. and i am sure that the anniversary editons are only up to about 35th for f-bodys other than the corvette.

Of course there isn't a 75th Anniversary Trans Am guys but as was said earlier Pontiac has been around for 75 years in 2001 so that's probably why it said that. However, those badges - someone had to have added them because they didn't have any badges for that.

FYI, as far as F-Bodies go, the Firebird and Camaro were around for 35 years (67-02). The Trans Am however, didn't get released until 69 (there were Firebirds with V8s before that). That's why there was a 30th Anniversary T/A in 99 and why the 30th Anniversary Camaro was in 97.

I agree, it is not a 75th anniversay for the Trans Am, but for Pontiac, and I do think that the badges are authentic. I'll send you a pic of the badges, so you guys can check it out for yourselves.

Ok, I have seen that logo before, but not on an actual car. I'm thinking the owner either got those from somewhere else and stuck them on the car or had them made in that style for the car.

Also, no offense but your car has orange peel somethin' fierce. It looks like it's been repainted as well, just FYI.

Well, I know the original owner of the car (I'm the second owner), and he said it came from the dealer like that, and he never got into an accident with it, so maybe its just a mediocre factory paint job. The orange peel really isn't bad either, its just the fact that I zoomed really far in and the angle of the shot. I had a pretty deep scratch from some *******, and there is only one layer of paint, so it hasn't been repainted. Thanks for the suggestions though!
Any other ideas?

My uncle has a 97 Trans Am ws6 that has 30th ann. badges on it. These badges are different from the 99 30th badges that are blue. These are red, black and Grey. I have researched also about trying to find out about it but no luck. I was also told it may have been a dealer promotional thing.

I have a 75th Anniversary Edition Formula.
Yes its real.
I am the Original Owner.

Mine does not have badges though.
Its just an option collection really.
It seems that the badges were a dealer-installed option.

Well has anyone else seen a 97 30th ann. ??? The badges on the side are shaped just like the last of the breed badges. I will just have to get some pics of the car.

you can def. tell that that sticker of the 75th ann. was an afterthought, it just don't belong, size proportion and location. The pre. owner had to stap that sticker on the car

I have a truck load of orange peel on my car...from the factory. Much more than most other f-bods. I guess my car was painted on a Monday.

Well then maybe mine was just painted on a Friday.....I believe that the best paint jobs came on Wednesdays.

To re-iterate (sp?), the vehicle came from the dealer with the badges installed, and the paint like that from factory. Another interesting thing I noticed, about my car, is that the seats are different, they don't have that interesting louver look on the sides of them, although the drivers side is still 8 way automatic, my car has all the options, except the 12 disc cd-changer. Also, i bought a predator programmer, and it didn't program my computer, so I e-mailed them, and they said because some computers are programmed differently (basically the settings locations are different). Maybe because its a different edition?

definitly just something the dealer stuck on the car and not from the factory.
I asked Scott Settlemire and he confirmed this info
